CI build without Ghost Reaver + life leech gem

..is it possible?
with my FP CI Witch i have 6.2k ES and I tried playing removing the life leech gem (res maxed). it was almost impossible because my ES dropped down so fast and I had to wait it to regen (running away in most cases).

am I doing something wrong?
In all CI build that I see on the forum Ghost Reaver is never selected. So.. is it possible to remove it and the life leech gem?

thanks for your answers!
Have you try Zealot's Oath?

I thought it was the answer but all the life regen nodes are too far in the skill tree.
With what should I use it? only equip?

I have no idea what builds you are looking at, but most CI builds use ghost reaver.

Instead of using a life leech gem you could use Warlord's Mark curse.
Zealot's Oath, Ghost Reaver with life leech gem (or other ways of leeching), maybe jewels with "of Focus" sufix since they give "(2 to 3) Energy Shield gained for each Enemy hit by your Attacks" (but then, you would need to change to wanderer since FP is not an attack), Aegis Aurora shield in cases where someone have lots of shield block and nice armour (so rather a niche for FP). That's all I can think of. But....

Zealot's Oath is still viable for you even while you are far away from most regen nodes on the tree. Just get blood dance boots (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Blood_dance) and grab additional frenzy charge from bandits and one from gear. Also, if you can, any additional one from the passive tree. But even without any frenzy charges from the tree, gear and bandidts alone should give you 5% ES regen. If you can grab something from nodes below ZO, in templar zone or scion zone, you should get additional 3-4 % regen, so that would go up to ~9%. Complement it with Enduring Cry (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Enduring_Cry) which should give you additional 400 ES points bursts every 4 seconds and you should be fine.

Edit: Also Vitality aura would be nice ^^

Actually I'm using regularly assassin's mark but I'll try warlord's mark thanks for the advice.
Generally looking at CI builds I've almost never seen GR but maybe I'm wrong.
(btw I would like to thank you because your FP CI Witch build was the first one I saw after 2.0 and it has been very useful to me :) )

these are precious advice that make me completely rethink my passive tree for the next patch reset.
I don't know if I can reach those nodes without wicken too much my already weak witch but I'll try.
thank you very much

Maybe you could share your current or theory-crafted passive tree (if you plan on totally redoing it). Sometimes just going differently in the tree can give you similar buffs and access to needed keystones or charges in this case. Since you are using freezing pulse, maybe rather than cold dmg nodes, you can take shadow or ranger nodes for projectiles or just elemental etc.
