Random kicks to log in screen while playing (Steam user)

Your ISP shouldn't be randomly changing your public IP on you. On a reconnect, sure, that happens on services like DSL. But not just whenever. Does your ISP allow you to request a static IP to prevent this from happening, or do they charge extra for that?

I just can't get around an ISP randomly dropping you and reassigning you a new public IP. So far as I know there isn't a way to swap your public IP without a brief interruption. That's...messed up.
