How casual is PoE racing to top 100?

Out of curiosity how much do people push the limits while racing to top 100 every league? Back in good old D2 days they formed teams, searched for experience shrines, teleported from game to game.
How is the state of the game in PoE right now? Is it more like casual effort by trying to spend as much time as possible using the best build or is it a real team effort? Things like pulling the whole map to one point (hello cyclone) and then inviting the player using experience gear and stuff like that?

The guys who make level 100 ASAP usually do have a large group of people helping them. Also a lot of time and currency is spent.

Respects on the character going to 100 are usually really common. not odd at all to totally switch the character more than once after level 90.

yha people pulling packs for 1 guy to get max time vs EXP happens for sure , and that's not to big a problem if you ask me , thats just working as a team to your full advantage inside the game mechanics.

The EXP gear is a screw up however. Some players just get big time carried/rushed with crap toon to high level by party then spec over and over .

No matter what you do however it's alot of time invested. I don't know how much playing time the characters making 100 in a few weeks are putting in but I will go out on a limb and say it's absurdly high.

Pretty sure they use currency, so by definition they are p2w fanatics securing there top spots!

O come on don't troll the poor guy boem . Of course they spend massive amounts of curency. Rolling that many maps properly is darn expensive.

You don't need a party to get to top 100 in a temp league. I am a solo player and got close to level 100 in Tempest before dying (99 1/4), I started the character 3 weeks into the league and I was around 35th when I ripped.

If you enjoy party play, then sure you will have some kind of advantage, sharing currency to roll maps, sharing the map pool, complimentary builds, support builds, less aggro from creeps etc etc.

You can probably get into the Top 100, solo, playing 2-3 hours a day if you are super efficient. So for your question of pushing the limits to get to the Top 100, I would say you don't need to push limits at all.

Going for Top 10 is a different story :P
I did a level 100 in D2, but I'm far from doing one in PoE (highest is near 95, the character is 500 day old). Imho, PoE is ultra HC, time wise. The time sink it requires to reach this level 100 is beyond reasonable. I must add however that I'm very inefficient with my playtime, which doesn't help. So my opinion may be a bit biased.

When two witches watch two watches, which witch watches which watch?
If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch.
Watching witches watch watches is not for the faint of heart...
It's the opposite of casual.

You could tell that from the type of comments we get. There at least three completely different games going on here... at least.

I play Solo/SF/HC.
Many play Standard, along with trading and multiplayer.
Some strictly race.

All three would be barely recognizable as the same game if it weren't for the graphics.
top 100 is ridiculously easy, you can literally quit halfway through the league and still be in the top 50.

it's 1-20 that's brutal, because of demigods.

this is on 1month and season leagues ofc, short races are really rigged in favor of SSDs/latency/fotm/insane amounts of practice.

You could probably do the top 100 pretty casually, playing after work and/or weekends. But the only advice would be going hard on the first 2 weeks or so. This sets you up for success for the rest of the league if you know what you're doing.
