[ProTip] Put Your Golem on Left Click

I don't know if this has become common knowledge or not, but I wanted to share a little tip about keeping your Golem summoned without using up a precious hotkey or having to use CWDT. Most people make left click their "Move Only" option, but putting your Golem on left click functions exactly the same way except when holding SHIFT. So with the Golem on left click, clicking on open ground, or even when clicking on an enemy will only produce a move action, but when you hold SHIFT and left click the Golem will be summoned. This essentially adds SHIFT as an additional hotkey because holding SHIFT and Left Click while assigned to "move only" doesn't do anything.

I have been doing this for some time now, and I prefer it to using my Golem with CWDT because I don't bother with CWDT anymore. Hope this helps if you are tight on skill hotkeys and I hope this isn't already well known. I tried to search for topics on the matter, but didn't find anything.
My friend,

This discovery you've made is absolutely AMAZING. Thanks so much for sharing it!! We gotta add this to one of the stickies up there. Maybe Noperative's guide if he's still around. Or maybe my ancient thread about settings that I'm not even sure is useful anymore.

EDIT: As is my usual socially inept habit though, I gotta nitpick a little. CwDT golem still offers some benefit over your ABSOLUTELY AWESOME (thanks again) method, as CwDT involves 0 cast time but you still have cast time when manual casting.

Some of my characters can still really benefit from 1 extra hotkey slot though. If not for utility, then for convenience at least.

Thanks for the positive comment!

I definitely recognize the benefit of using CWDT for the golem. I don't like it though because I either have to keep my golem low level, or I have to deal with the high damage gate from a leveled CWDT. It isn't bad in later maps, but in any other situation the golem rarely gets triggered so if he dies you have to gem swap to manually summon. I think the reason most people go with CWDT option is because:

1) They are already using CWDT for something else and have an extra slot to burn, so why not.
2) Lack of Hotkeys
3) Pure laziness (nothing wrong with that)

The cast time is not a big issues for me because I won't bother trying to re-summon him mid-combat unless I really need the distraction or I find that moment when I can do it safely. Most times I summon him as soon as combat has ended and I am traveling to the next pack. I would certainly opt for a CWDT option if I am playing a build that lets him die a lot, but I have been playing some of the OP meta builds in Standard like SRS and PA. The golems rarely die with these builds so recasting them is rare.

I greatly appreciate the enthusiasm! I was honestly expecting a more cynical response.
This works great, unless you use a skill where you press Shift often. You might find yourself summoning a golem when you should be running.

The lack of hotkeys in build does happen, especially now that 2 vaal skills and self cast warcry is pretty common.
I like it!

Nice trick, not very useful to me but still nice, thumbs up :)
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Awesome Trick! I rarely use all the normal hotkeys in the first place, but will keep this in mind for others who do
Sure, the lab can be hard, but it's pretty easy if you're properly geared, and not terrible at the game.
I like to have my Auras on my tooltip, and I often carry a Portal Gem, so this is super helpful for me and allows me to continue being lazy.
this is helpful for one of my characters. wonderful find. great tip
