Installed the game, the client comes up and says its Allocating Space, does that for like 20 minutes, Then it does its checking resources for about 10 minutes, then it starts installing or putting on the patches or whatever its doing, doing that slow 500kb - 2.02mb downloading. Whatever its downloading is about 5.58GB if i remember right.
But, while trying to download, it gets so far, (at least 18%, i dont know for sure when it stops because I walk away, it takes hours) then it shows nothing but a little window saying: Unable to MapViewOfFile for chunk header.. Error Code: 8 Offset: 3990421504 Size: 64853 Not sure if the Size or Offset numbers changed each time. The "Unable to MapViewOfFile for chunk header.. Error Code: 8 Offset:" part is the same every time though. Ive tried to run the game at least twice and i keep getting this error message. I even made sure i disabled my AVG and made my screensaver not come on for an hour (i came in here to check on things n restart the screensaver timer within 40 minutes so i know that screen saver didnt come on while i was away). Not sure whats happening. Ive played the game on my laptop months ago and everything was fine. I try to download the game on my desktop computer, and of course theres problems lol The desktop pc is at least 5 years old.. I wont be too surprised if it just cant play the game. Heya,
Can you quickly post your CPU/GPU/RAM and OS (32bit or 64bit) for both your laptop and desktop? Also what size/type of HDD/SSD you have in both, please. These errors are usually related to running out of available memory, but are more common when playing the game, I've not heard of it happening during download/install. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==

For desktop:
CPU: umm not a pro at this buuuuttt in the task manager it says the Memory is 1.93 GB currently. Idk if that changes when im trying to install the game, i assume it does.. Hey there, I'm really sorry you're receiving this error :(
This issue usually occurs on systems with less than 4GB of RAM, and running on a 32-bit version of Windows. You can sometimes reduce the chances of this error occurring however, by closing all other programs that might be using a bit of memory, and you can also try using the startup command -gc 2. This command changes the way memory management is handled in Path of Exile, and can help free up RAM to prevent the error from occurring. The process for enabling this command is a bit different depending on whether you are using the Steam client, or the standalone client so I will list both methods: - If you are using the Steam client, please right click Path of Exile in your Steam library and select 'Properties'. On the 'General' tab please then click the 'Set launch options' button, and in the dialog box that pops up, add -gc 2 and press OK. ~ If you are using the standalone client, please right click the PoE shortcut, go to properties, make sure you are on the Shortcut tab, and in the text box next to Target add -gc 2 to the end.
