User Interface not saving settings, no "production_config.ini" found [ Windows 10 ]
|
Hey all :),
I am trying to play on a Windows 10 system with everything updated and working, but when I save a setting the User UI is not saving them and there is no "production_Config.ini" found anywhere, even in the usual "my documents" way. I cant find it on my system and when I tried to download one off another website and put it in my PoE folder in steam it wouldn't save the settings. So really I cant find the: production_Config.ini file and, I cant save any settings when I play the game. Please help! Your brill! Geoff :) Loves you all :) Last edited by Matroth#0342 on Nov 4, 2015, 1:59:19 PM Last bumped on Sep 18, 2018, 7:06:21 PM

Sorry, I saw this a couple of days ago but figured someone smarter than me would hit you up.
Anyways, Do you have a Documents/My Games/Path Of Exile directory? Thats where production_config usually lives, even with steam. Its the same directory your lootfilter would go in. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! |

Since I have yet to install windows 10, I don't know how the file structure is setup for it. However, can you do a search within windows for "Path of Exile" without the quotes.
You'll want to go to the folder that is somewhere around this location: C:\Users\XXXXXX\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile (XXXXXX is whatever your user name is) That's where the prod config files should be. If you don't have a "Path of Exile" folder in that location, take a look around in whatever "Path of Exile" folders that do show up. Hey ty pal :),
Its only in the steam files, there's no file for Path of Exile under my username or anywhere else bar the steam folders. No production file there either :( Sorry about this guys, I know its trivial but keeping the settings and not having to change them every game again would be brilliant! Anymore help would be brill Thanks all, Geoff Loves you all :)

Hey there, I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue :(
Could you try searching your computer for 'production_config.ini' specifically (without the apostrophes)? If you're still unable to locate the file, we may be able to look at having you try launching Path of Exile through our standalone client and seeing if your settings save properly when you're using that.
|
I've looked into this a little more, and it looks like this is usually due to a pathing issue with the 'My Documents\My Games\' folders, that usually occurs when folders are manually moved around.
Path of Exile stores it settings in My Documents\My Games\Path of Exile. The 'My Games' portion of your path may not be not valid. Fixing the bad 'My Games' path may correct the issue where settings are not saving. Can you check whether you have multiple Documents folders? For example, you may have 'My Documents (D:\xxx)' and Public Documents (C:\Users\Public). Can you please search for 'production_config.ini' specifically (without the apostrophes), as this may be located in an as-of-yet-unfound folder.

Hey ya ty very much for responding!,
There is no 'production_config.ini' in an as-of-yet-unfound folder anywhere :(. C:\Users\Geoff\Documents\My Games - No PoE file in there :( C:\Users\Public\Documents - No PoE file in there :( Sorry for all this, any more info give me a shout :) Really want to play :) Geoff :) Loves you all :)

Yeah I think its a pathing issue too but not sure what to do :(
Cheers all Geoff :) Loves you all :)
