Whirling blades speed question.
Im a spellcaster, dual-wielding daggers.
The attack time of my whirling blades atm is 1 second per attack. The attack time on my flame dash however is .43 seconds. Technically flame dash should be more than twice as faster. but when i compared the two whirling blades was not slow at all, the speed felt faster than flame dash. Is this because the attack time for whirling blades is the duration it takes for the whole animation to complete? Whereas flame dash, The cast time is just for casting, and you have additional delay for the dash travel itself(like in launching yourself as a projectile with a set speed)? I just don't understand why whirling blade feels so much faster than it should be. | |
is there a delay with flame dash? there is none with whirl

It's the time thing, spells have a delay before you cast them, which is the cast time, while attack speed is the speed for the whole animation. Also it's worth pointing out that flame dash is a teleport, you can go around obstacles with it, while with whirling blades you can't.

"In both cases, the time is the time for the whole animation to complete. Flame dash does not have a travel time, it instantly teleports you at the contact point of the animation. Whirling blades, on the other hand, moves you quickly during the middle part of it's animation. Perhaps part of the effect is that you see yourself moving quickly with WB, but because flame dash is just an instant teleport and you're standing still for the whole animation, it doesn't look as fast? Have you accounted for the dual wielding attack speed boost to whirling blades? |
