Very few items are worth chancing theses days, I rather chance strongboxes.

Prophecy wands, or collect Agate Amulet's till you've got 342 and chance them.
Anything else is pointless |

After wasting so many orbs going for uniques I pretty much only use them on ilvl 60+ gold / amethyst rings so if they roll rare can use in chaos recipe

chance orbs are the lottery scratchers of PoE.
with that said, I've had better luck with chance orbs than hoping for a particular drop. 2 pledge of hands, a daresso's defiance so far. Never had those just drop for me. |

I use chances where i have multiple avenues for success. Example is an amulet that I could use a decent rare of, has a decent corresponding unique, is ilvl 75 so I can use in regal recipe.

i vendor my chances for scours and then scours for regrets. Imo using them for their purpose is a complete waste of time. Sometimes it works, at 20 regrets to an exalt the overall success rate vs orb value is just not worth it in terms of maths I think unless you are doing some sort of zana map investment with 1k+ attempts.

Holy bejeezus on ratio! I would do that as well if I traded and played std(?). Regrets have little trade value in league as far as I can see.
