Waypoint locations

Another thumbs-up for DPTR's suggestion - although instead of simply making waypoint travel accessible from anywhere, I'd like to see this tie into portal scrolls.
So - you use a portal scroll as normal, it creates said portal as normal, but clicking on it opens up the waypoint selection window. Conversely, traveling to a party member's portal (or your own) is done via waypoint.
This increases the utility of portal scrolls for getting to various places, while making them less of a "get out of combat free" card.
On the other hand, walking into a vertical portal and coming out on top of a flat horizontal waypoint might be disconcerting.
I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out.
Heard its twisted dreamed inanity
In a whisper, in a shout.
In the babbling cacophony
The refrains are all the same:
"[permutations of humanity]
are unworthy of the name!"
Bumpage because I really love the kinda art DPTR suggested.
this post should be updated.

it's the first result via. google search, and some of the information is wrong.
You're seriously complaining that the two year old thread you necro'd is out of date? Dear God.

.... I'm not complaining... I'm pointing out that the #1 search result on Google for a fairly common question has old information. Considering this is an Official Dev post on the Official PoE website, it should be kept up to date.

If I was complaining I'd say "WTF I WAS LOOKING FOR AN HOUR FOR THE WAYPOINT IN CHAMBER OF SINS 1 BUT IT WASNT THERE WTFFFFFFFF"... but I'm not.

If this information was in the Game Guide I wouldn't of needed to search for it. Since this thread is the #1 result on both Google AND PoE searches, I thought I'd let them know it might be a good time to update it... especially with all the new players joining.

Relax, Calm Down, Start breathing again... It'll be OKAY.
after all major enemies, like act ending bosses and things like brutus, leave the waypoints at the entrance of the next area.

For dungeons try to keep the waypoints on the middle floors so that going up and down is easier, there is still tension to find it and not have to go too far if you die(becuase going 3 floors and dying before finding a waypoint feels bad.)

On a similar note it would be nice if in single player using a warp portal would give you something like 5 seconds where nothing would swarm you, or attack, and no enemy or yourself could deal damage. This would give time to set up a new portal and get some brething room. When I can't find a waypoint I portal out to drop off and sell loot. I don't like jumping back in and being jumped, in part because the game needs to take a moment to reload the area which causes some stress when its initially like 2 fps for a moment, and its also unfair that the enemy is instantly ready to attack me and I'm not, especially if I have to recast any sort of auras or set up in any way.

Back to waypoints, part of the issue for me, is seeing a waypoint but having no idea how to get to it. The mini map is terrible, and its hard to see what is path and what is impassible terrain. Also its hard to know(mostly for new players) what zones don't and which ones do have waypoints. It'd be nice to be able to tell if a zone has or doesn't have a waypoint, or even a link to a new zone.

in D2 waypoints were a pain in the ass to me and my friends. we just quickly shared them with each other, instead of really trying to find them or asked other people to give them to us.

Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

You mean when returning from Town to a combat zone? I kinda like this idea however 5 seconds is way too long, even 3 seconds would arguably be too long but I'll settle with 3 seconds.

I greatly dislike http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/220/waypoints.png as it removes the world map which signifies you moving through the world. Having that... thing, would just make it feel like you aren't really doing anything for a single cohesive place and you're just fighting at random locations for... some reason.

And I love the Act 1 and Act 2 Way Points the way they currently are. I was going to suggest moving the Way Point in the Slums to inside the place it is outside of but after getting a new weapon I found the long trip to be a non-issue and fairly rewarding in loot.

I haven't completed a single triple through the entirety of Act 3 yet so can't comment on other Way Points in the Act.
