Looking For Advice On Dual Wield Sword Build
LVL 65 Duelist
The idea was to go duel wield swords, evasion, with some duel wield block and critical strike chance/multiplier thrown in as well. Here is my passive skill tree. https://poebuilder.com/character/AAAAAgQAmy1fOYrwxILpRrCrvqduadX4ZU29Nkd-hNlgQWNwEdVXl0MxU7u_1dP8CVjbp8GLIWBEnjrtNe-BQeXF9UYceBpVYSGE79rB4e-p-ojtBS107RR1GNt08ZAKW6931wYgWHV0oAaiF9xW6J-C4JXdDQAGYnkV9g2NOJa3F_zFgOHiXv_eJP3nVFFHMHx_K1b65w_cvTGwy_XUUgIRo-dE0gMn Problem is that I'm not able to handle areas appropriate for my level. I think a big part of the issue is my equipment not being the greatest. I'm a casual player and am not very rich so I can't afford great stuff. I'm flexible as to what attack skills I use, mostly cyclone and dual strike + support gems so far, but I'm open to suggestions on that, changes to passive skill tree, etc. I'm even willing to switch from being an evasion build to an armor build if necessary. Any specific items I should try to trade for or specific stats I should want in items? My understanding is health & resists are pretty important. I've read a little bit about the whole duel wield using just a main weapon with main weapon attack skills and the second weapon is really a booster. While it violates the spirit of dual wielding and seems like something unintended that may be patched in the future I'm not entirely against it so I guess I'm open to suggestions with that as well |

Life on your build is really low, get more life.
And I'm sure your gear probably really needs an upgrade(self found gear, not the best), but I can't help specify what as I can't view your gear. I may not reply to this thread again since I my not revisit this part of the forum, but for future knowledge; you can click you character at the top of the screen when in a text box, then click the items your character is wearing(same can be done with item in your stash tabs) and it will link them in the post. Thank you. I didn't know you could do that. Makes this so much easier. I'll start going for + x% max life passive nodes and maybe redo a few of the points towards that end.
Here is the equipment I currently use. |

You make mistake of having too many attack skills - viper strike, dual strike, cyclone, frenzy etc...just too much of them. In PoE the best results come from having just one-two attack skills(one single-target and one to deal with packs),empowered by 3-5 support gems. And something that can be considered as teleport skill, used just to quickly move across screen. In your case,I'd choose Cyclone as pack-dealing skill,Frenzy (or Dual Strike) against single enemy, and Leap Slam for movement. That's all, these are enough for all your needs, bah, you could even skip single target attack and rely only on Cyclone - but in that case you lose a way to get frenzy charges during fights against act bosses. Now,how these can be linked together? Cyclone + Life Gained on Hit + Faster Attacks + Fortify + Culling Strike + Melee Physical Damage (+ Added Fire Damage in case of dropped Fortify) link order is not a coincidence, once progressing and getting 5L and 6L chest armor add the listed gems. Frenzy + Faster Attacks + Fortify/Melee Physical Damage + Culling Strike Leap Slam + Faster Attacks + Fortify Alternatively, you can drop Fortify from Cyclone and Frenzy, and refresh the buff by using Leap Slam each few seconds. These skills fill chest armor, one weapon and helmet/gloves/boots slots.Which leaves two 4L and one 3L slots for supports. Very good is Blood Rage, but it requires to invest in life regeneration and frenzy charges number/duration in passives tree.It also combines very well with Frenzy attack. Arctic Armour is also very beneficial for a melee character. Hatred aura gives significant boost to damage.Alternatively you can use Herald of Ash,though it increases damage much less than Hatred it also reserves only 25% of mana, not 50%. Cast When Damage Taken will easy your life autocasting defensive utilities like Molten Shell and Temporal Chains. |
