I just got my first one - Yah!

How rare are they?

This gives me a total of two 5l chests (we won't talk how much of my orbs/resources went to the first).

Not perhaps the best base item, though it was white -- which I think was good :).

Would I be afraid of asking how rare natural 6l items are?


Since I am fairly casual - just hit 60 on my best level person, I like making different concept builds and level them up to see how they work - I wonder if I would ever get any of the 'good' stuff. I also wonder if I would recognise an 'uber' item - some, many I think would be obvious, but all?

Aside from the above what kind items should I be looking to grab with my greedy little hands and call 'my precious?'

5L aren't too rare. However, 6-links are extremely rare as drops. I have had one drop in my 2.5+ years of POE.

5-L it's another story yesterday i found 2, i think vendors must give something for it, like 4 fusing.

I'm running a 400-ish MF character these days and I find 5 links 1-2 times a day, so I assume it's not terribly rare.

I've never found a 6L, never fused a 6L, the only 6L I have is from 1500 fusing master craft.

you don't get the achievement if you go the 1500 route btw, kinda disappointing.

5L's are pretty common. If you faithfully check vendors you can usually buy one before high level (down to a3 normal iirc). 6L drops are rare. I have found 3-4 in many hours of play and thats non corrupted/non tabula.

Putting a value on items is an art for sure. There are so many builds with various requirements that it is hard to give a simple guide. The best strat is to get extra tabs, look for well rolled stats on gear, and put as much crap up for sale as possible ;D. Build guides can be very helpful to see what people are running for end game gear. Some things are very niche but also popular. Like a wand with spell damage, base weapon crit and attack speed. Bad stat mix? Nope, a cast on crit wand. The more exposure to different types of builds you can get the better you will be at judging if an item has value. Socket ring with dex, life, and a decent resistance roll... Perfect for your friendly neighborhood summoner!

In the last 3-4 laegues i have always found a 5L before my character is level 85.. 6L's on the other hand, i have found one in 4000+ hours(maybe 7-8 Tabulas)

6L drops are indeed rare, however, rng does treat us all differently...I've been quite lucky as far as I can tell (been playing for three to four months, few hours every night, prior to that I was playing super casual for a few months):

*4x 6l drops (to be fair, one "pair" of that was via corrupted box with mirror mod... but drops none the less right?)
* last week Tuesday I 6l fused a daressos... on Thursday I 6l'd another daressos (about 220 fuses into each, didn't bother with q)
*3 ex drops (I've heard of people saying they've been playing for years and have never had an ex drop.... really?)
* pledge, windripper, whispering ice, drillneck, bino, mings heart, crown of eyes and a few other random useful uniques (2 more daressos... man, thats all I get as drops XD )

In my experience 5l drops are so common I don't bother picking them up unless they're 6s as well (to vendor for jews, or if I actually need a 5l for a new toon... rarely need more though as I have stash tab full of levelling 5l's) OT: I feel like 5l drops more than what I've had them sith fuse spamming (during 6l'ing those two daressos I've only had 4 5l's)

Anyway, the point is, 6l's are indeed a rare drop, but don't let that put you off, you'll find one soon enough, you just need to play (and just for reference, I have NO mf gear on this toon I'm getting the drops on... just rolling rough maps ;) ).
