Suggestion:Consumable Item as rare as top tier uniques that grant +1 to a stat on a char PERMANENTLY
What it is:A consumable currency item (similar to a book of skill) that is used on a character, not an item, with a rarity equal to that of top tier uniques (but would drop throughout the game as a white currency item). It would give a very subtle benefit to your character, because significant permastats could be OP if anything significant.(estimated price would be around 5-40 exalts for one.) A limit of the amount able to be used on a character may also be viable, depending on the rarity and permanent bonus given.
Who would use this consumable item: Elite players who have nothing really else that they can upgrade in their build and/or have nothing to spend orbs on. Who would benefit: The elite player: May give a little extra incentive for the godly players who have everything to keep playing. The average player and economy: Most elite players have tons more currency than average players that they just sit on, sometimes never spending. An average player could (very rarely) stumble upon one of these permaboosts and sell it . Now this average player with a relatively crappy build now will go and spend all of the orbs he just got on a decent set, which will in turn benefit the above-average players trying to sell gear. How it effects PoE as a game: These perma stats would obviously only effect non-leagues standard and hardcore. (well you could use it in leagues if you found/bought one, but that character would be taken to non-leagues eventually). Now i am open to what the item would actually perma grant a char. +1 to a stat is just my initial suggestion. Feedback please on the idea, not the specific permanent bonus this item would give. If it is about st, dex , intel or whatever there is items giving you like 10 time more than one tree stat point (like 40 intel or 40 st on items. Astramentis give you like 100 pt of those basic stats) +1 to range allready exit on jewels and tree, not sure the devs would really want to push AOE too much right now. Are you talking about giving you a free skill tree pt to use? Jewels do that even better. What the consumable gives is not really the debate. The debate is if this would be a good idea or not. But just to reiterate , this consumable item would give an extremely subtle +1 to a stat , permanently, to a character, not an item. Anything much more than that would be to OP IMO. It doesnt sound like much, but the point of this idea is not to make a character insanely OP. It is to make the economy even better while providing the ELITE players with something else to play for/spend on.

Well 1 pt in intel would not break the game but it would also be useless Imo, however even rare like a mirror some people could get like 1000 of them and it would become super broken. If it was for like elemental res or move speed, even +1 pt would be broken if you don t limit it to a max use of 1. I don t think this idea would work since POE is not made like D&D. I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this that I too like this idea. Say for instance you have an "orb" that permanently increases your strength by +1, but that orb is worth 5ex. So, for 100ex you could increase your strength by 20. Doesn't sound OP to me, for strength, int, or dex.
I also like the same for resistances. But, additional res would need to be on the order of 10-20ex each. Lets say they are 10 ex each. If you are ultra rich in game, you drop 500 ex on increasing your base fire res by %50. Want all three increase by %50, that will cost you 1,500 ex. Yes, you could theoretically max res and 120str/120int/120dex your character with NO GEAR, which would be opieOP, so perhaps a cap to the amount you could raise it? Useless for the average player, potentially broken for the elite player (or more: elite flipper). I don't like that idea.

How about if it gave +1 to one stat but -1 to another? Then you wouldn't have infinite potential but could tune exactly for tree and gear.
