Wisdom Scrolls - just get rid of them.

It's a matter of coherence.

Deckard Cain made id scrolls completely useless, as you'd always bring the items back to him rather than add a 2-slot book in your inventory just to id stuff.
Just the same, as soon as you have a master that identifies stuff for you, wisdom scrolls become portal scraps, which lose their interest as alternate wisdom scrolls. You may as well just remove the scrolls, despite the fact that their interaction is more in line with the other currency mechanics than the master is..

I don't agree that wisdom scrolls become useless. Remember that your backpack is not endless. Remember that even when you're doing solo you have just 6 portals back home. It's quite common to identify items when on map and throwing useless crap away to free place in your backpack.
May God have mercy upon my enemies; they will need it.

I think most players wouldn't id on the field. They'd take whatever is most likely to make a good item and leave the rest.

You cannot just judge ;) On maps with really high IQ or when you have high IR you can get tons of shit. At least I'm identifying stuff in the filed from time to time. But when in HO, let's face it - clicking on each yellow just to identify it it's kinda automatic, boring job. I'd like to have an option to identify it on one click. Preferably as on option on trade dialog to vendor. In 99.9% my vendor is my master. Adding him such an option would solve that. Adding it after certain master level would add that feeling that you have to work on that...

I'd personnally simply add a key binding to automatically use wisdom scrolls from your inventory on all inventory items. Something like Ctrl+RightClick on scroll. It makes more sense to still have it tied to the scrolls in the inventory.
imo removing wisdom scrolls would be a great step,
BUT only if stuff would drop "indetified".

Reasons:
Making all items identified at drop would make the game much faster in terms of looting/selling.

Why?
Because finally even casuals would kind of "learn" what the pre-/suffix names are and could therefore deciding by the name of the item if it could be worth picking up or not.

Why don´t I like the D3 Mechanic.
Consumes time aswell. The only benefit is that you dont have to pick up stuff.

Negativ Effects
The "Supprise" wouldnt be there.

TL;DR
Make drops identified for more fast paced action :D
I would simply prefer to have an "ID All" option that allows you to do exactly what it says on the label so to say. In return, whatever amount of items you ID, that's the amount of Wisdom Scrolls it costs to ID them all. Saves time having to Shift+Click on everything that is unidentified and if the devs don't want it to be something that we cannot use 'in the field' then have it be something that can only be done in town/hideouts.
I agree it is an outdated mechanic that is leaning towards the meaningless chore spectrum to me. But it is already in the game, and if it would take more than a few hours of development time to change, I wouldn't bother.
I vote +1 for this idea :)

I would be very pleased if Scrolls of Wisdom are completely removed from the game, or to be more precise, remove the Unidentified Items system (I don't want an NPC like Deckard Cain either).

It's so boring, within a fast-paced team, to stop for a few seconds, identify the items, drop the useless ones, and then quaff all your Quicksilver potions to rejoin the group that is already 10 screens further.

What's more, I'm sure that I already have missed TONS of nice Magic items : I almost never pick up blue items, because precisely it would slow me down and/or there are too many of them on the ground, even when choosing the interesting ones. I pick up Rare items only, and it's already slowing me down too much. I don't care to be slowed down when I solo, but in parties it's big no-no.

Finally, if Magic items were identified, the item filter could be used to highlight the interesting ones (Dragon's Gold Ring of Amassment, etc...)
I like Scrolls. It is one of the best feelings in PoE to have stacks of scrolls in your stash and start not picking up more! Sadly the feeling when the stash is dry and you need to pick them up again is horrible.

I mostly agree with this^

Some additional problems could be that good rare items would become much more common, more quickly in new economies. However, more good rare items in new economies would mean that GGG would nerf the chance that rare items roll well. Also, racing would change.

In any case, I am in favor of items dropping ID'ed, or, at a minimum, being able to ID items that drop by mousing over them.
