Implicit CoC needs links?

Hi, 2 questions here.

1)I was wandering if an item with the implicit CoC needs sockets to be linked in order to work.

And if the answer is yes..
2) Does a support gem (say increase critical damage) would work if you don't link it to the rest of your sockets.

I saw Nugi with an unlinked helmet with an implicit CoC.
The thing is I asked Project PT if it worked, and it's not suppose to.

Can anyone clarify this situation please, in the name of science?

Nugi's helm isn't/wasn't working (hence his abysmal single target deeps). He was trying to find someone with vorici 8+ to 4 link it for him. :-)

An implicite skill is linked with all the gems of its item. If you have 4 unliked gems it will be like 4x2 link with the implicite skill. You still need to link the socket inbetween themself for it to work.
