Malachai's Simula is killing me :-(

All I ever wanted on this game was a mask/circlet, so you can imagine my joy when this unique dropped.

To my shock whenever I wear it, it drains all my mana and chunks my health. Am I using it wrong, or is this like a trick item?

15-30% Increased Spell Damage
+20 to Strength
+10% to Lightning Resistance
100% Increased Mana Cost of Skills
Blood Magic

This is the mod list of what that mask does.
"Blood Magic" is a keystone that removes your mana and makes you use HP to use skills/spells/auras

Edit: You're not using it incorrectly, it is doing exactly what it says it does.

Sorry, I am a noob. How should I use it then? To me it seems like it very inefficient.

You need to have high hp and high life regen to be able to use blood magic efficiently.

"Blood Magic," is a keystone on the passive skill tree it allows you to use HP for your skills/aura instead of mana. So a player will stack HP nodes/hp regen and use there skills that way

The item u got allows you to do so without having to waste the passive points of headed to that keystone.

But, If your not setup to use blood magic IE. don't have high life or life regen it will not benefit you.
