best 2 handed weapon for cast on crit

Hey guys,

So, i want to make a "themed" cast on crit. Namely a badass warrior that call on the powers of fire anytime he strikes.

That will get me to start with a marauder, focus on health/armour/endurance charges, and get crit on the way.

So my question, what type of weapon would work the best to achieve this? Mace, Axe or sword?



Axes seems a good choice, because of the new crit axes from the awakening. But no ground slam, which would have been my aoe skill of choice.

Maces dont seem too bad as well, because i'd get access to the "galvanic hammer" nodes on top of the "disemboweling" one.

Swords, hmm, the "fatal blade" nodes could be an option.



Just to clarify, i am going for a fun build. I'd like it to work as much as possible, but i dont need it to beat ubers.

Any tips?

staff is only option for CoC imo. Either way you're better off going dagger 100% of the time.

Sure, except i was asking on maces, swords or axes. That was kinda the whole point.

If I were going for your setup, here's what I would do:

Go Avatar of Fire + Molten Strike, and favor Elemental Damage nodes over physical damage nodes whenever possible. Scales with both initial hits and whatever spell you end up casting.

My links would probably be something like:
Molten Strike
Fire Penetration
CoC
Firestorm
Crit damage
Crit chance

A 2h crit axe would work, but ideally I'd aim for dual Doryani's Catalysts, since they have decent crit chance and have buckets of increased elemental damage. Maybe even add in Romira's Banquet if your crit chance is stuck in the 30% range.


Don't know how well it'd work though; CoC really doesn't work unless you can push that crit chance really high, and dividing your attention between your attacks and spell and crits complicates this.

Righto. If it was me, I'd go for those new maraketh 2H swords or rapiers, build on right-low portion of the tree and use spectral throw.

However, to get a warrior caster, you don't really need to go crit, I'm getting some great results from CoMK cyclone-shock nova at the moment.
