It wasn't that OP, ever seen Avatar of Fire? That was OP.
Yes I have, I just mentioned it in another thread eerily. Couldnt remember its name though. And CI was OP, it made you near unkillable if you played half smart.
Yes, CI could be very good, but only if you had very good items. It's not like you picked it and it made Merc Vaal magically die. You really needed to farm gear with CI in mind, some call it OP, I call it synergy.

Yes when on CI first time flasks that take your HP away are one of the common ways to die not knowing what happened :)

The only thing that can "bypass" the shield (afaik) is if you link a bloodmagic support gem to a 40% aura (like purity).
40%*250% = 100% of life reserved -> insta death without touching the shield.
AFAIK, this can no longer happen. The mana multiplier on BM is 249% now at level 1.

Even 1% reseverd Life kills you know. Just read some GGG post about it.

Regardless, anytime you pay a cost, and that cost would be a nonzero number but below 1, it rounds up - if you're supposed to actually pay some amount, it makes sure you pay something, and the least you can pay is 1. This will kill you.

I had just switched to CI. My life was 1 point and CI 1200. I zone in and get killed first mob to hit me. My Energy Shield fully in tact. What possibly could have killed me. Cant be Chaos damage. Is there anything that would bypass my Energy Shield?
Your character MaD_HerD has Chaos Inoculation, bringing their maximum life to 1, and a Caustic mana flask, which explicitly removes a % of the mana gained from your life when used. Since this will remove more than your maximum life (1), this kills you.

Really spending some orbs to roll a few items with tons of ES is synergy?? Getting good defense mods on items was and still is very easy and cheap. And with 50% bonus to ES not counting other nodes you had a s**t ton of ES.
