[2.0] non-crit ball lightning mana MoM build

Changes in 2.1 are mostly buffs to the build. More mana per level means more mana for MoM and ball lightning got 10% increased damage. Only nerf is less increase to aoe from passive tree

Overview:
This is non crit ball lightning build for templar also possible as witch or shadow for more dps but less survivability.
Build utilize Mind over Matter keystone with mana for defense paired with Warlord's mark for life leech, mana leech and endurance charges.
For offense is used Ball lightning paired with Vaal storm call for occasional dps boost

In the spoiler below is current passive tree at level 82 (104 passives). Finishing with Devotion and Melding life clusters is recomended, than jewel slots or more mana
Currently I'm using dual wands as more offensive approach, but could be made easily tankier by ditching dual wands and using shield. Then obviously drop Dark arts cluster. Pledge of hands is also viable :-)

* Due to use of MoM on mana, flat mana and mana regeneration mods are quite important
* projectile speed on at least one wand is highly recommended due to use of slower projectiles gem
* desired jewels mods are cast speed and lightning damage to boost DPS or life, mana and mana regen for survivability. knockback is also helpfull for defense

* at least one flask with "of staunching" is mandatory because of corrupting blood and the speed of our hits
* one hybrid flask to boost MoM is also prefered
* topaz flask is needed for reflect maps to allow faster clear speed

I've recently been interested in 100% chaos damage with consuming dark and infernal mantle and using ball lightning.

I would like to try this build out by using Avatar of Fire (since it is only 3 passives out of the way).

What do you think about this?

Thats interesting idea, but as I understand how AoF works would not end well. With AoF you cannot deal non-fire damage which applies to chaos damage too. So result of this setup would be that you would deal exactly 0 damage.

Looks pretty great but why not a LMP/GMP instead of add lightning damage?

From what I can tell it's not as useful on BL because there's already AoE and the balls can't overlap anyway (shotgunning essentially). Having more dmg means you can cast and then just move to clear another spot.
Try it and see if it makes a difference to you I guess.

Exactly this, with Carcass jack, and passive tree aoe nodes, the BL aoe is sufficient and having more single target is more important.
