Unable to Map File / Unable to MapViewOfFile

I was having the (subject) issue to a large degree yesterday (playing from a Steam download). When I say large degree, I mean, both errors, multiple instances of each, and often goobly-gook error messages/codes. I tried it with the -gc 2, and -gc 1, and lowering the graphics to no avail.

This morning I ran a fresh install without Steam. Lowered my graphics to 1600 x 1040, and upped the antialias to moderate/medium (no vsync). I was running it with -gc 2 quite successfully for several hours.

Later however I did get an error message. It was just one, and it was coherent.
"Unable to MapViewOfFile in MapChunk. Error Code: 8 Offset: 2630877184 Size: 734008"

I hope this helps any continued efforts to debug or at least identify the source of this error.

Note: CA Server.

Oh, hi! Since I quoted you on other thread, gonna repost this for you.

This thread has a fix for 32-bit Windows systems (as "MapViewOfFile", "E_OUTOFMEMORY", "Map Chunk"):

Have you tried it?

No.

That's hardly what I'd call a fix.
Yea. Can't make it to Piety (Edit: 3rd time's the charm).

My advice if you have the map error as your most consistent error. Play a different game.

You've exhausted all possible workarounds and therefor there are few options left:

1) Invest in a 64-bit processor and it's respective Windows version.
2) As Diademist posted, see my thread here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/108634

To be clear: The issue you're experiencing has no immediate solution apart from the ones listed above. It's caused due to a poor design decision by the developers that is likely to persist into the foreseeable future.

(Unrelated: There appears to be a nasty bug in the forums while trying to use the extended form of the "url" escape sequence; truncates posts at the point of occurrence)

I am aware. But I am unimpressed. GGG should update their minimum requirements. Indeed, they should make this information not only current, but more readily available and obvious.
Okay.

" --nopreload gives stability. But you have to put all 2 dashes. I had entered it wrong.
