why does 1st level of dungeon reset so fast???
Its happened to me a few times. I make progress to thr second floor of a dungeon with no waypoint, i die (or TP expire) and i have to run entire 1st floor again because it gets re-rolled. This happens in less than 30 minutes.
Is this by design? a technical limitation? Or am i just doing something wrong? |

" Instances reset in 8-15 minutes of inactivity. |

Yeah, its dumb. Just get into the habit of popping a portal at the start of each dungeon floor. Portal scrolls are very common, once you get enough its easy to get into the habit to save frustration.

This is a technical decision. Removing inactive instances from the server is the best way to save resources and keep hardware costs down.
8 minutes is a somewhat arbitrary number that can be modified in the future, but instances do need to be reclaimed. |

Portal scrolls are insanely common, just drop one about 6 minutes into any new dungeon if you haven't found a waypoint.

If you pop a portal scroll on a map, does that have a timer on it? Im always wary about doing that because I think the portal is going to run out and then I'm screwed if I die.
Finding a portal gem would be the fix to all of our problems, but I never get one :( (b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted. - PoE TOS. " the portal will remain 'up' as long as the instance it was created within is still there. the timer begins when you leave a particular instance. if you go back into the instance, and quickly leave again the timer will reset. im not sure how a portal gem would fix anything in regard to this. * while you can bring up the instance manager panel when entering a zone (ctrl clicking entrances or waypoints on the map) there doesnt seem to be a way to view this in a more general way. ie. it may be nice to be able to pop up the instance panel from anywhere to see what instances you have created and what their timers are currently at. being able to close empty instances you dont need from here might be a useful clean up we can do as we quest about. :) |

Oh right, I though the portals had a seperate timer on them too, so if I had a portal gem, I could just refresh it every so often without wasting scrolls.

but that is not needed. A portal will remain up until either the instance is reclaimed (8-15 mins away from it) or when you walk back into your from town. Other than that its not goin anywhere.
