Piety, the Abomination.. seems OP
" I think the thing to do is just get closer to her, the further away you are the bigger the circle you have to run. On the outer ring you cant outrun the beam, when you are right beside her you can actually lap the beam if you were to go around her too fast, you can even dps her while shes beaming if you stay close enough. You ever see a guy at the Olympics running a long distance race on the outer lane? Theres a reason they all pack into the inner lane. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Unsurprisingly, if you leave Eye spawners alive, they will spawn Eyes. :P |

Her beam always starts 90 degrees to the right of you, a party member, or a minion, relative to piety. So having lots of minions out will make it much harder to tell where the beam will start.
They should probably change it to just consider a player character's position. |

" That was pretty much exactly what happened to me, when I saw her the first time ever. Needless to say I got wrecked, my minions got wrecked in the process, and then you realize you respawn in that "arena", with little to no time to actually get your minion count back up or reapply much needed buffs or auras. From my point of view, this is poor design. Same thing mith the Malachai fight and his tentacle spam. Having minions out, you don't always know in which direction his tentace spam goes, so misjudging directions can be an issue there as well, especially if he is "south" of you. After +700 hours, I was looking forward to this content update, after these frustrating fights, I am actually hesitant to even come back for more. Needless to say in cruel and merciless things will be picking up steam and I can't see myself having fun there. And when you think about it, fights like these will drive new players, who have a first look at the game, away. And still Dominus' first phase is more painful as the second one, weren't they supposed to do something about that, too? Well I guess we'll be waiting for the next update in hopes of increasing this communities size then. [quote="ScrotieMcB"]It's just, like, people's opinions, man. Piety & Shavronne's battle reminded me alot of Bullet Hell Games where you had to dodge alot if most of the projectiles or you'll get instagibbed.
I had Whirling Blades & Leap Slam and dodging was still a bit of a pain. You also respawn in the Arena for the Godless Three as well though which IMO also feels like a cheap trick to mess you up. Just another Forum Signature in a Sea of Signatures.

I find her pretty simple to kill really. The trick to the fight is to stand really close to her because towards the edges of the area her beam is a lot harder to keep in front of since it moves so quickly (geometry!). The main damage you'll take in the fight is from her lightning orbs, but as long as you've got lighting res capped and you aren't just standing inside of them it really is an inconsequential amount of damage.
I have a cold snap + flameblast witch so I just chill/freeze her and charge up to 10. Elemental proliferation takes care of the eyeballs and the thingers that spawn them, burning damage wrecks her while you dodge her beam and abilities. Once she stops burning you cold snap and flame blast again, rinse, repeat. Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day

" Very well said. As someone who thinks this fight is a bit overtuned in terms of crap on your screen, yes the idea here is to stay close to her and run circles (if you aren't doing something else to avoid). My problem with the fight is that there are too many adds to deal with. If you are playing SC, you die and zone in to 50 of these little adds that pew pew you to death in a second. Although, the same could be said about the arenas and gated arenas during daressos dream... But yeah, once you master avoiding the beam, focus should be on clearing the adds, and THEN piety. Try to group the adds near her so she gets some splash damage. This is how I do it (I still die though). |

" I absolutely love hearing different ways of handling different fights. Its great for the game. Problem is: cold snap and flameblast dont fit into every build (obviously). Right now Im running a HC summoner(might get to A4 Piety tonight or tomorrow)...Im willing to bet this is going to suck for me because the beam will slice through my minions like butter. And theres no room for flameblast on this build either, let alone cold snap. But kudos to you for getting creative. |

" Thank you! I really am fond of my Witch. It took a lot of hours of theorycrafting but I have really fun build that's completely based around the ridiculous amount of burning damage you can get off of a fully charged flameblast after elemental equilibrium. It makes boss fights interesting because all I have to do is get a good burn started on them and I can actually just spend the next 5-10 seconds running around and dodging while they burn to death. I certainly wouldn't recommend the build to you hardcore players though! It's a bit glassy due to a lack of phys damage reduction xD If you can run cold snap with increased area of effect and elemental proliferation in any build though... I seriously recommend it. The crowd control on that gem combo is deadly. It's pretty much the only reason I can reliably charge my flameblast to 10 on things. It also opens up the door for elemental equilibrium if you like that =P Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day Last edited by Nasreth#4337 on Jul 21, 2015, 12:51:08 PM

I haven't given up on Piety, but after clearing the whole level for corpses for my spectres, I am at a loss on how to continue. Piety's lightning beam kills all my minions in 1-2 rounds with the lightning beam and I last approx 10 seconds at best. So 10 seconds of fight, 2-3 minutes of preparing.
I can't see how I am supposed to keep my minions alive in that fight. I rely on them to deal damage. I am busy just running around trying (and failing) staying alive. :-/ Sometimes I may get lucky and destroy one of the spawn points for the adds, but usually I am dead long before I do that. And now I had to give up completely because when dying while clicking, I ended up clicking resurrect to town and well, no way I can get back to that level in time before it times out. I guess I'll make 30-50 runs and hopefully get 2-3% of Piety's health in each attempt. Frustrating, but this is not a minion friendly fight in any way. |
