Is lots of armor actually worth it?

I'm currently level 63 with around 4.3k armor (7k with molten shell) and I still come across stuff that will 1 shot me, i have almost capped resists in merc and just dont see the point in armor. Am I wrong?

It's just the mob dmg that it totally retarded. That's why PoE is a total harry potter\legolas fagfest.

I'm 72 and have no problem doing maps or other content. I play solo mostly or with 1-2 friends. Pretty much pull whole rooms and just tank the damage while ground slamming. Armor is very valuable, so is having a granite flask and keep max endurance charges up.

I'm thinking because armour only reduces physical damage, which is itself potentially only a quarter of the damage you would receive from enemy mobs. So for example for arguments sake if you had 100% dmg reduction from armour, as that only applies to physical you are still going to get spanked by all the elemental damage you would receive from the same hit?

It is important to have a balanced amount of armor/light/fire/cold resistance so that you don't get destroyed by one type of mob. That being said, I feel that physical is probably the most common. I Usually run a granite flask with bonus armor and another elemental resistance flask with whatever my lowest stat is. Also, using enduring cry and have 4+ endurance chargers gives you 20 to all resist and physical damage, which makes a huge difference.

At lvl 60 i've got 3104 hp with 4.2k armour (I don't use molten shell) and also 7 charges and I never die.. Ever.. Unless I go to an area with mobs 3 lvls higher then me and pull the entire room (which is retarded to say the least anyway)

So I imagine your stats would be more then high enough.

yeah i just got the extra endurance charges and things are fine now =)

Yet he gets one shot still? Chaos damage perhaps? Seems that is the mobs 'wild card'.
