Newbie question on elementalist templar

Hi, Ccn some of you more experienced players advise me on where to go with my elementalist templar?

I'm playing hardcore, with 1k life and 47% damage reduction and 116 energy shield (too little?)
Main attacks are flamestorm and then off-element single target spells, freezing pulse does 600 dps but eats mana while I can spam flamestorm all day thans to clarity.
There is another armor+ES node near Faith and steel, I have one more elemental damage node I could pick up, there are a bunch of defensive nodes between sanctuary and the templar start I could use, or I could go for zealot's oath and then head for fire damage nodes. And since I'm using a wand and a shield (after starting out with a scepter and some elemental melee attacks I could also think of going down to unforgiving, unyielding, and sanctuary.

Any suggestions (or comments, like "ZOMG why did you pick that?") would be appreciated
