what the difference between sc and hc?
|
You can't assume that everyone is willing to exploit to get ahead, as it's just not a true statement.
The difference inbetween softcore and hardcore, IMHO, is just an extreme amount of elitism. |

" Ironically you almost never see someone from the top in HC being elitist, its mostly just people who are crap at it and they think are better than everyone else I carve and sell real animal skulls, check out my work here: https://www.instagram.com/victorseiche/ https://www.facebook.com/victorseicheart/ World first Uber Atziri as 2h and 2h RT build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1058950 Highest level char in Closed Beta, Wytchfindergeneral Last edited by VictorDoom#6290 on Feb 11, 2013, 7:47:13 PM

" I just want to say... making blanket statements like this is just not a good way to go. I played HC in CB exclusively and never alt+f4 out because.. well that just seems stupid to me. Same with all the players I actually know. *edit* I do not play HC now because I spend most of my time moderating and I find the largest player base is in normal, and if nothing else, most new players do not start out in HC. Also, what other players may or may not do has nothing to do with what you choose to do so trying to cite the actions of others as a reason not to participate in something (when the action in question is purely optional) doesn't make any sense to me. Lastly, your signature.. I don't understand it. If you die in HC delete your character - no different from any other game. The loss of your stash is the severe penalty. " true cutthroat isn't in the game yet.. it will be. was in closed beta. You seem to like to assume what other people think/believe, and that is a bad habit to fall into generally speaking. I don't understand your signature because it doesn't make sense. your signature should be something like... "Since you do not lose a character instantly on death in HC and instead need to manually delete them yourself, I do not feel PoE has a HC mode." That would be accurate. It doesn't much matter to me really, you can have whatever sig you want.. I just don't get it. People have been saying it since CB - one guy went on rants every day about it for some reason - I didn't understand it then either. happy hunting. Oh and being a moderator has nothing to do with voicing my opinions. I think the loot system is horrible. I hate ID scroll - okay hate is to strong a word, I think they are pointless. I think we need more starting paths from the initial cluster - like we used to have in previous versions before it was changed due to people "being confused" "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers." -GGG Happy hunting/fishing Last edited by Wittgenstein#0994 on Feb 11, 2013, 9:00:36 PM

People in SC don't take themselves so seriously, main difference.

" Oh so much this. I wasn't here for closed beta, but when I saw your old Skill tree had 4 different potential starting paths per class, I immediately found myself thinking about all the increased build diversity that must have created. |

I don't alt f4...
Friend of mine does all the time, though. 3 out of 5 times has ended with him rerolling though, so alt f4 isn't as effective as everyone seems to believe. |

" No one who plays HC seriously ever plays their characters in SC after death. Reason? You basically have no wealth in SC, it's pointless to play there. And in many cases people just deletes their characters when they die. Also, Alt-F4 does not do what do you think it actually does. Alt-F4 means death most times anyway, specially now that there is a sensible delay. Log off is an other matter though, but you still have to do it. Cut throat (both in SC & HC versions) is coming at some point, when they have time to polish it. |

As a strictly HC player, I have never once Alt + F4'd. It's bad to assume such things simply because what is perceived as "popular". Not everyone abuses systems to try to get ahead. In fact, I find it counterintuitive since the whole point of HC IS losing your character when you screw up. Otherwise you'd just play SC right?
Now do I care if other HC players do it? Not at all, but then again I don't care at all about ladders (people with the most time to spend will always be on top) either. It's purely an ego thing and everyone just needs to get over it. |

The difference is that you don't have to pay attention in Softcore. You can do other stuff while playing.
You can watch TV, or eat, or play another game. You could probably just bang your head on the keyboard and probably still get pretty far. I'm not trolling, I'm serious. Go watch Softcore streams. Then go watch Hardcore streams. The difference is huge. |
