PORTAL GEM: Useful for late-game farming??

Hey guys, I recently found a Portal Gem and I was wondering what you guys thought about its usefulness for late-game farming.

I understand that the Portal Gem is very useful when you're still questing, but I'm currently level 66 (been running Docks for quite awhile already), and I'm at a point where I'm ready to move onto farming 'Maps'. From my understanding, once you start a 'Map', you can't TP back to town mid-run (or else the portal will disappear), so a Portal Gem seems kind of pointless for Map-running.

But yeah, for those who are already in the late-game, I'm just wondering what you guys think about the Portal Gem's utility for late-game farming.

Unless you have a spare gem slot that's empty it's just a waste of a slot.

You can actually portal back to town from maps but there are only 6 portals so once they are used up you can no longer enter.

I think it's rather useless. All i do is farming maps. I don't even know what to do with all my portal scrolls.

To be honest with you, I am in love with the portal gem, but I think even more people find it pointless. Portal scrolls drop plentifully, and they aren't worth much. Still, I feel they are worth about a GCP, but you'll need to find a buyer, which can be difficult in this case.

It's far from useful, but I like it. I put it in a secondary weapon, and whenever I'm not in a hurry I just hit x and right click to pop a portal.

Doesn't even save time as it has a long-ass casting speed but m'eh, I got used to it.

if you're hardpressed to find someone to give you a GCP for a portal gem it's not worth a gcp...

I like the portal gem because it allows me to double my rate of wisdom scrolls, I just sell my portal scrolls for wisdom scrolls so I can identify more rares to get more alteration orbs to roll better mods on maps.

I regularly see 3 GCP offered and asked for, for Portal. Its got gimmick value I guess.

This gem is not useful, in any way.

I would rather sacrifice a inventory spot for 40 portal scrolls, which are much faster.

one inventory slot doesnt make a difference, one gem slot does.
