Fire Converted to Cold

Ignite is generally the least useful status ailment. Chill, freeze, and shock are useful to any build that can apply them, while ignite is only useful if your build is specifically designed around burning damage. If they add a ring that converts fire damage to cold, most fire builds are going to want to use that ring so they can trade ignite for chill/freeze. I just don't think this is good for the game.

Than you would need to forbid Three Dragons.
Three Dragons has pretty bad stats apart from the gimmick.
Heh, I'd have to disagree with you strongly about ignite. Even if it does very little damage on a build that isn't built on burning, ignite prevents enemies from recharging ES. And with the reduced recharge on ES coming in that will be significantly useful because of scripted fights where you have no choice but to dodge. Why do the same damage twice if you can avoid it? Sadly it still doesn't help against mobs that have too high life to burn easily, or are simply immune to it.

unique ring

do not need nerf.

This would be the most op item in game. Why? A high level RF/incinerate char with decent gear would freeze EVERYTHING with this ring. EVERYTHING!
It is possible to build an almost perma freeze built today but it requires at least some sacrifices but that ring would be a 100% "lol at the whole game-content" item.

A good ice build already freezes everything, so I don't think thats much of an argument. I'm more concerned with the conversion problem. The game goes phys->lightning->cold->fire->chaos. It doesn't go in any other direction to prevent looping, not things like a freezing incinerate. By the way, it takes quite a bit more damage to freeze and shock, so unless your incinerate is insanely high dps rather than cast speed, you won't freeze anything when the awakening hits.

You have to be kidding me. I freeze every mob up to lvl 75 with only the dmg from my added cold gem on my incinerate char and that is less than 1/5 of the total dps. If i could use 100% of my dmg as cold I would freeze everything.

Try it when the awakening launches. Higher life, and higher minimum thresholds for freezing/shocking. Based on how I read the changes thats how it goes. I haven't played the end game in beta though, nor would I use an added cold damage as a support for it, shiver.

Then you get an infinite loop with cold to fire.
That's not how conversion works.

RF doesn't deal fire damage directly, it does burning damage. Yes, burning damage is related to fire damage but conversion from fire to something else won't convert the burning damage of righteous fire.

Freezes are applied on hits and last for some time proportional to the damage dealt.
Since you don't have a hit this would never freeze or chill.

I know my wording is bad but your understanding about conversion here is worse. Besides: if that would be the case than RF + Three Dragons would give a shock aura but that's not the case either.
