What is the timer counting down to?

The timer on the front page tells me in 4 days and 40 (approx) minutes something happens. I'm in Central US CDT which means in 4 days at 2 PM my time, the countdown ends. 2 PM my time is noon PDT. Chris says the Awakening launches at 1 PM PDT (3 PM my time). Is the timer counting down to when the servers go down, and then an hour later is when the come back? Or is the timer supposed to be telling me when the servers are back online, which would be an hour off from when Chris said it would?

P.S. The time stamp on my posts are correct with my actual time.

The timer currently shows 4 days and 24 minutes for me. I am US EST (currently 2:36pm), so the timer doesn't seem to be region specific since I have the same timer as you. From past patches, they usually shut down an hour or so before the timer is done so the launch (end of timer) is when servers go back up.

I think the time on the posts is determined by your local time...Your post was 11:24 my time

I know it's my local time. A timer isn't supposed to take local time into account at all. My point is the timer says I get to play the Awakening an hour before it's officially released.
