should orbs of trasmutation/transformation be fused as one?
Unavailable Unavailable Orb of transmutation has a very limited use right now and transformation has very low drop rate in comparison Some items in this post are currently unavailable.

That's like saying should an Alchemy and Chaos be fused together.
No, they shouldnt. They each serve their own purpose. If you have no use it for it, then trade it. Both transforms and transmutes are plenty useful, the biggest reason pertaining to flasks. They're also great for getting that big damage% since magic items have a better chance at rolling a higher value than rares. |

I go through orbs of transmutation like candy. I think they are very useful, especially if you are not geared for magic-finding. I tend to pick up white base item types that I could potentially use, and use the orbs on them. Especially good for flasks I think.
I think it makes sense for the transformation ones to be much rarer, because you only have to find the base item type once and then keep re-rolling them. http://www.therainforestsite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=4

Personally I think they would be made more valueable if alchemy and chaos as well as transmute and transformation were combined.
It would also help a bit of people confused between transmute and transform. I don't have big issues with the current system, but now that they mention it, I really don't see the point of having the items separate. There are currently too many types of currency items, and not only does it fill up people's inventories but it makes some currency items not used as currency. Others like alchemy/chaos really have similar (almost identical) functionality, and hence just waste inventory slots compared to sharing the space. It would be very simple functionality to change it to: "re-rolls (randomizes) a rare/magic item or upgrades a white item to a rare/magic one". This pretty much also makes it so that scouring orbs are sorta no longer necessary, which is good in a sense that there are less currency items. I had nothing against scouring, but if it has no major use remaining, then there's no point. "What source told you that? I suppose you just mean it in the sense that it's easier to get big values due to the items being much more frequent. Increased frequency isn't the same as increased power though, but yeah it's just semantics. Fresh cakes for all occasions. " This was, in fact, stated by one of the dev's. I'll have to dig up where I read it.. |

Magic items do indeed have a higher chance of rolling mod values in the upper half of the available range than rares do.

I personally like this idea, because Transformation are just too damn rare. I get more scouring/transmutation combos than I do Transformation.

Only thing I see being a problem if you merged them, scouring orbs would be just about useless. They drop way more often than alchemy, chaos and divine combined, only time I use them is for rerolling transmutes since I have more scourings + transmutes than transforms usually.
I like them seperate, and I enjoy the plentiful drop rate of the transmutes, but thats up for how you want your games market to function. Just think long term and keep inflation in mind. |

they are very useful for potions

the problem is magic items will end up to be 95% useless in comparison to rares in late end game, thats why i made the question for transmutation/transformation and not for the rare modifier orbs(chaos/alchemy).
Fusing them together would also help with finding "decent" low lvl items when you start a new character. to keep some control on flask creation, orb of transmutation could be recycled into a orb specific to re-roll flasks and deactivate other orbs(chance, transformation) on flasks. |
