Haha! yeah, did that as my first port of call - but it went nowhere after we tried testing temps, drivers, event viewer, anti virus, etc etc.

Anyway, no worries xen, thanks so much for trying to help me out - hugely appreciated. Interestingly, since I turned Windows Error Reporting to start at startup, I haven't had a crash - but that's not necessarily determinitive. I'll see how it goes over the next day or so.
