The rogue exile with Bear trap(?) and EK Totems
" It doesn't pierce, it can't shotgun and fires a lot of projectiles so it looks like it pierces. Chain would theoretically be a great crowd clearing support but the damage penalty is currently too high, once it goes down we should see it used a lot on EK or split arrow. So should I pick up the phys damage nodes or the spell damage nodes for EK since it's a spell but uses Phys damage?
And will auras like Hatred also apply to totems if the totem has EK? " Yes, both types of nodes work, but you should go for physical ones first because they will affect Bear trap too. You should also focus on items that give you physical or generic damage bonuses like Magnate, Blood Thorn, Fencoil, Cuebiyari or Daresso shield. Totems and traps use all your offensive stats including temporary bonuses. One more thing you can do to solve damage scaling problem and use Marauder start if you wish is convert all physical to elemental and then scale it with elemental nodes in Templar area. You could pick up both. Projectile Damage also works too.
Hatred works with EK, as is with added fire and Herald of Ash, since they're all dependent on physical damage. Of course, Vickas Giantbone is in himself weird. he's using EK and Bear Trap.... On a Marauder start. Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.

What class would you recommend to start with that has the best starting area for this type of tree?
Is there any thing in tree that doesn't scale with this ? Such as, for example, casting speed, attack speed, elemental damage, pierce, keystone passives and other that can be found in the tree? Best way to discover colors for your loot filter

Well, I said that it's advisable to visit shadow area for physical nodes and projectile speed, so Shadow would be an obvious choice but Scion, Witch or even Ranger would be fine too, the major snag is Ancestral Bond being on other side of the tree. If you do the conversion trick with Avatar and convert all damage to fire then Templar or Witch, but Mara could also work if you want to copy Vickas 1:1.
Like we already said, casting speed works with EK but not with Bear trap*, attack speed is 100% pointless, pierce is also pointless with EK, elemental damage is good only if you convert and so on. I think you already got what you need to make the build.

Technically, casting speed works with traps that use spell effects (and Bear trap is a spell effect even though it doesn't do spell damage) but it doesn't do anything useful.

That bear trap exile is not as hard as the one that uses Vaal rain of arrows, since arrows will trap you in place as well simply by hitting you. Just have to be careful and not step into the trap as a caster. Decoy totems/skeletons is the key to keep him busy.
