can vaal's smash be blocked?

can this be blocked? i got hit 3/3 times in maze map on hc and figured it couldn't be. either that or i was just very unlucky with 70% block.

gonna go out on a limb here and assume it's a spell and can be blocked with spell block.
otherwise you should've blocked it at least once, statistically speaking, or maybe you did get really unlucky. i'd try it some more, though on the lower levels (say cruel vaal) just let him smash you over and over and see if your guy ever takes zero damage from it. |

we had enfeeble on and it dropped me to about 1/3 hp, and i got hit once without enfeeble and dropped to about 10%. i'm guessing i'll have to dust the saffels off next time to block those hits, it was not pleasant being toe to toe with him.

I can confirm I blocked it once in the pyramid. Not sure if it's different in the map, though.
I have 52% block chance and 6% spell block chance, but I'm not sure which is in play. You'd think it would be regular block, but I've been hit (read: killed) by it many, many more times than I've blocked it, so I dunno |

I can confirm that Vaal's smash is an attack. I've personally evaded/blocked one of his smashes in the pyramid on a character that does not have spell block.

i suppose i was just extremely unlucky then.

I am pretty confident that my character has blocked it, unless something weird happened.
It may have been spell block though, I did spec for that. Standard Forever
