Beta login problem?

My friend juts got the beta and after redeeming and downloading the patch for beta he open poe and then on log in screen et press log in and it say only beta player can log in there? he is on the awakening screen?

did he redeem the key on the correct account?
a lot of people play on steam and end up creating new accounts accidentally on the website/forums because they don't use the "sign in through steam" button properly. |
