Jewel that makes the skill tree 3d
Not sure if this has been suggested before, but we could have a unique set of 2 jewels that form a connection between them. So placing the dirst jewel in a jewel slot allows you to place the second one anywhere and you can continue your skill tree from that second jewel slot. essentially it would allow you reach a section of the passive skill tree without taking the trip to get there.
Some restrictions: - Can only have one pair of these - Should have negative modifiers as not to be op (Maybe 50% less dam and 25% less life/energy shield) - not ungodly rare, since it could be very useful for many, possibly new, builds So basically it would give you a choice of travelling the tree in regular manner or using the jewel slot + taking the penalties for not having to take the trip. It could make MoM builds viable without the cloak for example. (As for the 3d-bit: a projection of a 3d tree would/could have lines crossing each other and this jewel effectively forms just such a line...) This thread has been automatically archived. I really like this idea. There are always nodes you really want but there is no way to get there without sacrificing 10-15 skill points. Thus making it not worth the trek.
The penalty is already wasting two skill points on the jewel slots. The jewel doesn't do anything besides link it. If that penalty isn't high enough, maybe give it a small radius and any stat points inside that small radius are divided in half. Instead of the jewel being a unique item, make it a quest reward. Choose jewel socket link. That way it allows for everyone to take advantage without being lucky enough to find that jewel. You can't start allocating skills at either end until your main tree attaches to one of the linked sockets. Last edited by NullPointer568#3554 on May 15, 2015, 3:03:34 PM

This is the "jump from one end of the tree to the other" suggestion again, right? I dont think thats a good idea at all. It would kill some classes to be taken at all and others be made OP. Sometimes one has to make a long detour across the tree to get to some nodes. Besides, we already get some jewels that let you hop a little.

It's all about balance. If you could cheaply hop dozens of nodes, then that would very likely be op. That is why is suggested the harsh penalties.
The idea is not about making builds stronger, but about allowing for different build possibilities. So intead of spending points on traveling the passive tree, you take the penalties and then try to make those up with the points you saved. It would only be sensible if that particular part of the tree had some really useful stats for your build. It would provide alternatives, not a way to easy op builds. Also it would reaward careful planning and clever use of tree-passives and synergies. You would have more room to use your points, but you would need to make more out of them. Why would this not be good?
" Because you can already make any build you want with any class. Want to use CI with a shadow or duelist? Travel there across the tree. I did all kinds of travel over the tree heavy builds, and they work. Classes become rather meaningless if you let them jump to other ends of the tree. The class determines your starting point, but the tree itself is the same for all so you already have near unlimited build potential. |

good idea.. but so many nodes would have to be taken to make up for the loss of "50% less dam and 25% less life/energy shield". may as well take the stat nodes to get to other parts of the tree.

" Yes, you can travel through the tree to use what ever keystone with whatever weapon, but this does not mean that you can make any build you want. And, yes, there are many build possibilities, but that is really not reason to not have more. This would add new options. Just like other unique items in PoE.
PoE 3.0 should just include a 3D tree. PoE 3D - The Reawakening. The tree'd look like a sphere with the Scion in the center.

Here's what they should do for POE2:
1. Add a fourth attribute to the Str/Dex/Int mix. Already have blue, red and green, so make new yellow. Already have fighter, rogue and wizard, so make new cleric-y. Faith, perhaps? 2. Create a passive tree that repeats in all directions. If you go far enough in any direction, you wrap back around onto yourself, as if circling a globe. One large repeating hexagon for each attribute. ![]() 3. Eight classes, four defined by a single high attribute score (starting attributes a multiple of 4/2/2/2), at the center of their hexagons, and four defined by a single low attribute score (starting attributes a multiple of 3/3/3/1), at every other intersection of three hexagons.
