" English isn't my first language so I can't tell if there's a real difference with or without it. Removing "yourself" still makes sense for me. So yeah, it's been done. Thanks Terikan :) Update: Added Molten Shell tip to mitigate Physical Damage type. Last edited by panplan#4247 on Feb 10, 2013, 1:10:41 PM

You forgot to mention you can also Evade and Dodge Chaos attacks.

" I didn't forget. I just think that evasion in general is an unreliable mechanic for all types of damage, not just chaos. New players should adopt a safer approach to get used to the game. Once they have known things throughout, attempting at more risky builds would then be reasonable. Besides, as I asked someone before, is it possible to dodge the chaos damage from the chaos damage over time aura wielded by a bear-form mob? I don't remember the exact name of that type of mob but they are in the first level of a multi-leveled dungeon. |

" It's only unreliable if you're focused on the possibility of getting killed in one hit. Eliminating that is obviously a minimum requirement of any Hardcore build, and Evasion doesn't help there. (Armour doesn't help much either, unless it's in vast quantities - you pretty much need a big life/ES pool and strong resists, full stop.) But Evasion can contribute a lot to the sustainability of your character, which as you say is an important aspect of the game. For attacks that take three or more hits to kill you, Evasion is actually very reliable if you have enough of it. You can't evade/dodge a damage over time aura, true. But this is gradual damage, so surviving it is more about sustainability and developing the appropriate hit-and-run tactics. I'm just pointing out that the attitude 'Armour is better than Evasion' is a controversial one and doesn't really fit with a general guide like this. Other than that, most of your advice is a matter of general consensus and something that is clearly helpful to new players. Last edited by Incompetent#3573 on Feb 11, 2013, 1:08:47 AM

Perhaps you can put more emphasis (ie, a whole new paragraph in bold) on stacking life for non-CI builds? I think the reason why we keep seeing threads titled "armour/evasion/energy shield sucks" is because many new players think that just stacking ar/ev/es is enough to protect them.

" I think this is often what it comes down to. There are also perils in having very low (hypothetical) life on a CI build: you are very vulnerable to stun, shock and chill/freeze. It doesn't totally undermine the concept of stacking ES instead of life, but it's something you have to be aware of when playing such a character.
