GeForce GT 540M - Can't play PoE

I've had horrible FPS issues with a mates Laptop as discussed here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/117350

Then I noticed this Thread: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/31614

Now I believe the GeForce GT 540M is somehow not able to run the Game normally, I've tried every fix I found yet nothing seems to work EVEN though the Card should be good enough.

Now I want you guys to confirm it, so if you have the GeForce GT 540M 1GB or 2GB please reply and confirm that you can not play PoE without FPS Issues, or tell me that you can play it without any problems!

Also please reply if you know a fix for the issues.

Thank you in advance.
I have the same graphicscard and it seems like poe doesnt recognize the card. It runs with my onboard intel gpu and i dont know how to fix it.

I have the same problem, I have tried everything I can think of. I'm not sure if its the card or the game, but i can run any other game just fine. I really hope i can get this fixed. I love this game but hate playing it with the on board intel graphics card.
Install de newest driver and it will work. http://www.nvidia.de/Download/index.aspx?lang=de

kinda the same Problem here.

Without any sort of vsync activated the fps are between 30-160, changing frequently and very randomly in this range, to the point the game becomes not playable.

The only solution for me is to run the game in windowed fullscreen mode, its the only "vsync" working which forces the maximum frames per second to "60" (laptop)
As we know, playing windowed fullscreen cannot be the solution, but at least the game becomes playable.

creating a "Path Of Exile" profile in the nvidia configuration is not possible, because of the already known conflict with "Phantasy Star Online 2" which doesnt allow any changes in this specific profile.
So trying to force any changes with the drivers requires to make the changes globaly. But even forcing vsync on the global config tab doesnt affect the game at all.
To run "path of exile" with my dedicated graphic card i have to do this manualy.

May you devs can change the executables name to something unique.
As some already mentioned, changing the Executables name helps bypassing the "Phantasy Star Onlinee 2" issue giving us the possobility to create a profile in the nvidia settings, which can help us out a bit, at least us laptop users.

I have the same problem. Mostly when there is alot of lightning spells and stuff like that then i get like 1 fps.

I can run the game on the gt 540m but i dont see any difference from running on the integrated card, which is really strange.

Can run games like bf3 and wow etc with good graphics fine without any fps laag at all.

Have all the latest drivers, running on high performance mode and stuff like that but cant figure out whats wrong..

I have a DELL XPS with a video card: Nvidia Geforce GT 525M, and it is only used by the game when it runs on my external monitor, which is connected to the display port, and when game right on the screen of the notebook is selected the onboard card automatically.
In my case all worked good till last patch. Now game doesnt show my card in options and it runs with baic laptop card.damn.
For people with crazy framerate changes, use Nvidia Inspector and set the frame limit equal to your monitor refresh rate, then enable vsync in the game (and disable it in the nvidia panel).

That will smooth out your frame rate and give you better play.

As for those who have issues with card detection, use something like HWMonitor to verify which GPU has the load while PoE is open. It is VERY likely that PoE SAYS it is using your integrated card, but is actually using the dedicated card. It's an issue with detection using the crappy Optimus systems on laptops. If it has been configured correctly, it will continue to use the dedicated graphics adapter rather than the integrated card. Just have to verify it by checking the GPU utilization with PoE open.
