Templar LS+TS build, need some help

im thinking of starting a tempest shield and lighting strike build, but im having difficulties deciding on my build.

the goal I was looking for is getting unwavering stance so I wouldnt be interrupted by blocks and continue to do damage while they also take damage. with that in mind I wanted to improve my block chance as well to be as high as possible.

also attaining as much lighting damage as possible and also shocks

the abilities I'd be using is LS, TS, conductivity (was thinking warlord's mark as well with the doom whisper, but decided not to) molten shell for added defense, shield charge for mobility. and as much auras I can handle, the 3 I believe would be essental are clarity, anger and wrath.

any tips or modification please let me know

Is there any particular reason why you are not focusing into any of the 1 handed weapon trees? Maces, swords, etc... Their bonuses are quite massive. You need to keep in mind that when you take a node of 6% lightning ( or elemental ) you are increasing a total of 50% of your dps. This means that you are effectively* increasing your dps by 3%, taking a physical damage node will first give you an increase of x%, and then 50% of your damage will be converted to lightning, this means that your overall dps will increase by a total of x% rather than (1/2)*x%.

In going past celestial walker near the start of your tree, you are using a total of 11 points to get unsubstantial bonuses, ( also you are getting an extra intelligence node at the end of the tree )

Bonuses from those 10 points :
+50 Intel
16% Mana
20% Mana Regen
6% Cast Speed
18% Lightning Damage
10% Elemental Damage
( *Effective Total DPS Increase will be 28*1/2 = 14%

Using 11 points :
With 5 of those points used for the 1 handed physical damage at the start,
46% Physical Damage
20 Strength ( 4% Physical + 40 HP )
( *Effective Total DPS Increase will be 50% with 40Hp that will increase from your %life later)
With the other 5+1 points, going for Skull cracking and Bone Smasher ( IF YOU WANT MACE)
66% Physical Damage
10% Reduced Stun Threshhold ( Stunlocks galore!)

(*Effective Total DPS Increase 116% + 10% reduced stun threshhold)

Mana may be an issue, but can be resolved with items or going into Blood Magic

*I realize that it is not truly effective DPS increase of a certain percentage, but it is a very closer approximate, ( taking out weapon base lightning dmg and aura dmg. ) I believe the math works out so that you still gain more DPS from flat physical damage

but then this is all focus on just Ls, what about TS? wouldnt the extra lighting damage help that? also increase the duration of the shock charges allowing for a 3 stack easier giving me 120% damage increase.

I mean it makes sense if all that was to just increase LS and that was your only damage source, but since im going with a shield as well, wouldnt it be best to increase the damage on both LS and TS? not to mention the elemental damage will also improve any aura damage as well since those (except for hatred) are all fixed values. and not based on your melee damage. though going the middle 30% elemental damage on weapon does seem silly now since that would only improve LS and any auras and it was quite expensive to go get.

im wondering as well since molten shell and TS are both spells, would they take iron will as a support? that should help increase their damage by a ton if im getting 300+ str right?

im also thinking about taking either leap slam or shield charge, I do have quality shield charge so I've been using those, but looking at it, whats better? from the wiki its hard to tell how the damage works, since they arent too consistent, but I doubt shield charge will double my damage at level 1. but still it scales damage a lot better than leap slam and it does cost less and better stunning. though with leap slam your looking at versitily of traversing over gaps and cliffs and larger aoe.

what are your thoughts?

The bulk of your damage should be coming from LS or any other attack spells you have, in my opinion TS is there mainly for the extra % block chance and the extra reflect damage is just a bonus. If you take into account the aura damage+ molten shield + any base weapon elemental damage it will always be less than 100% of your total DPS because of the fact that LS is based off of your physical damage.. I am honestly not sure how the math works out for this circumstance and if TS, Molten shield really do benefit from elemental damage that much. I am doing physical because it seems like a larger majority of damage comes from LS than anywhere else.

One reason I forego elemental damage in my build is the fact that there is just less of it around, it is much harder to find compared to striaght up physical damage.

If someone could confirm if its better for %elemental damage or if % physical would be better that'd be awesome.
