Take note of which people are saying "this is too strong", and which speak of "everything is vendortrash". You'll notice there's terribly little overlap - different people, different strokes.

Strong items are fine. Overpowered items are not. It's the difference between "this Jewel offers a strong option for Life recovery", and "this Jewel is mandatory because it makes you nearly immune to Damage". There's plenty of design space between overpowered and vendortrash, you know.

Mjolner is mandatory for Mjolner builds, and people were crying out loud to nerf it and it is still out there.

I have got your idea of perfect balance but i would rather have overpowered stuff in game than underpowered. At least i can sell it to people not NPCs.
Because it's already confirmed to not change with 2.0 huh.
I don't see how its existence has any bearing on this jewel though.
If everything was perfectly balanced, game would be boring

there have to be "broken" synergies for people to discover (intended by devs or not). And if it its too broken, it recieves a nerf

Would reduce spike damage, but it's not really very strong though. You generally don't want to be traveling around at anything but near full health if you don't want to die (though it presents a cheap way of recovering health). Would be a boost for Detonate Dead builds since they can't avoid reflect damage.

Desecrate does have a cooldown which I'm not sure if CwDT overwrites or not. If not, then healing 12%+ of your max life on 440 damage taken implies that, on average, a character with 3670 life will take no damage or heal on most incoming damage (and will only die to spikes).


Cast When Damage Taken does not override cool downs. Case in point, Enduring Cry, which is a fairly common combo with it.
This seems to help with rapid damage, but not prolonged rapid damage, because Desecrate does have a cool down and you will hit it.

I can see a summoner combo here with Cast When Stunned - Desecrate - Raise Zombie - Minion Damage/Minion Life/Fortify.
Zombie for off tank, while you have Spectres and Golems as offense.

I agree with this idea. I have never played a good game that is perfectly balanced.

I have. It was pretty amazing, but it was nowhere near the complexity of PoE. PoE cannot be balanced, the only thing they can do is shake up what's OP this month.
that jewel would be great for this setup i use on my cycloner (been trying desperately to find a use for CoMK..)



it works way better than it looks (i have a weapon with cull - that boosts the combo even more). no BM gem == one non-wasted slot).

shall give it a try in 2.0

also - both my summoner and domblow chars use cwdt+desecrate+offering. that means instant 30%+ heal each time it procs. and it proces A WHOLE LOT

I think it means 4% heal and doesn't matter if one corpse or 10 is consumed.

According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew?
Any confirmation or is it your experience from beta? It looks plausible both ways - power charge on crit works like ONE charge per attack yet the volls protector gives one charge per enemy hit. Description on this jewel is a mix of.both

Of it is as you say it is.. well.. CoMK then or DD builds. DD is a great skill on its own and there is never enough instant healing.
