"Cannibalistic Habits" Unique Jewel: Absurd Health Recovery?

"
"Recover 4% of your Maximum Life when you Consume or Destroy a Corpse"

So, by linking Desecrate and Bone Offering to a CWDT gem, you can immediately recover 12% of your hitpoints every time you take 440 damage. That's not even considering the possibility that there are other sources of corpses nearby; if you're standing on a good pile of bodies you can be recovering 36% of your hitpoints every time you take 440 damage.

Literally any build can use it this way, as long as they can spare three sockets someplace.

It just seems very strong to me.
It's "recover", so there's no way to convert it to energy shield somehow... which I think makes this an excellent jewel. We've been needing more ways for Life builds to fight back against low life shav's.

But it may not be as broken as you think. It doesn't say "per corpse consumed or destroyed", so it may take multiple simultaneous corpse destructions ala flesh/bone offering as only a single trigger. Someone needs to test this in the beta.

English isn't my native language, but doesn't a corpse say that?

Not necessarily. It could very well mean that, but you can also read it as "Whenever you take an action that consumes or destroys at least one corpse". The point is it needs testing.

Well it sure looks op with gems like infernal blow aswell.
It won't work with Infernal Blow, Pyre, shattering with freeze, or the new skill, Abyssal Cry.

None of those leave corpses to then destroy; they avoid leaving a corpse altogether.

Desecrate does have a cooldown which I'm not sure if CwDT overwrites or not. If not, then healing 12%+ of your max life on 440 damage taken implies that, on average, a character with 3670 life will take no damage or heal on most incoming damage (and will only die to spikes).

It's very similar in effect to Aegis Aurora builds, but with only a 3L and a jewel instead of massive defensive investment. Technically, both can be used together for even more defense.
"When" not "whenever"...
Many lewt.
Much desync.
Such rewarding.
Wow.
According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew?

cwdt does not bypass cooldown. It gives a skill short cooldown but if the skill´s natural cooldown is longer, the natural cooldown is retained

trap support can kinda bypass cooldown. desecrate+trap+multitrap allows you to create many corpses (ask my retired DD sunblast build)

Desecrate's cooldown isn't super-relevant anyway: it's not really a cooldown, it has three charges with a 5 second recharge each, so it can fire three times before it actually goes on cooldown, and then you'd have to wait just 4.25 seconds before it can be triggered again, and chances are very good that in most circumstances any corpses you create yourself with desecrate are just supplemental: it's very likely that there will exist around you a number of viable corpses from killing enemies.

I see there are tiers of jewels just like with uniques. There are "fun" jewels, there are strong jewels to help with quality of life and there are shavs/mjolner tier of jewels and they can make or break a build. I say it works as intended

People complain that there is too many of weak uniques out there and most of them can not be used for leveling nor endgame. Finally something strong is released. People complain about it being too strong... Ah, people

Rejoice my comrades, GGG released something that is not a vendor trash!
