Cast on Death Thoughts

First we got the CoD Prophet Crown. Then we saw a build of the week with Cast on Death. Can Maligaro's Lens be considered a Cast on Death item? Idk. Then we experienced Cats on Death, arguably (but not really arguably) the best gem ever introduced in PoE.

I think it would be cool if GGG/the PoE community took Cast on Death a little more seriously, as although it is currently honestly pretty terrible, it could be a really cool alternative playstyle as a slow but heavy spell damage spec.

CoD definitely has some perks. Being able to spec completely into damage, not requiring any expensive gear really, etc. You can actually use Veil of the Night and not really sacrifice too much (besides being able to use a good helm like Scold's Bridle). But the cons outweigh the pros. It seems TOO slow, you cannot level, and you cannot play it in Hardcore leagues. I wouldn't know the full list of cons as I have not wanted to play a CoD build at all due to its drawbacks.

I think we could improve the state of CoD to a practical but not OP state with better uniques. Please GGG/the community consider making a solid CoD unique that would take CoD out of its *slightly* underwhelming current state? Because while new skill gems are awesome, it's nice to see some already existing niche material get some love. Maybe after fixing CoD it would be cool to fix CoMK and adding reflect build viability. Or something.



A note on uniques: A good way of solving issues may be by working on how the mechanics of death itself work for CoD builds. I might make some unique suggestions here:

Where Wax Explosion is a buff that activates once you resurrect. Grace Period is reduced to 5 seconds but cannot be interrupted by character movement/casts/flask usage etc. Monsters cannot sense you but you cannot damage them. Visually maybe you're encased in a bubble of translucent wax.

Maybe CoD viable patch 1.5? I hope so
