When is damage calculated?

1) On cast
2) On hit

Problem case: You have Pain Attunement and Scold's Bridle. Damage from Scold's brings you below 30% hp. Will the spell get 30% more damage or not?
Yes, it will. PA is clear : since you are low life (HP<35%), your damage is increased.

It is not clear at all, damage may be set at the moment spell animation begins (objects carrying damage are created) or at the moment of spell hit.

A Dev's clarification would be really helpful, unless someone has tested it and can confirm either case.

Damage is calculated on the hit/cast animation, as it starts. In your case mob have to receive the +30% from PA, even if you are not at LL when skill actually hit the target.

But a clarification from a developer will be appreciated.

You can tell this when using immortal call against charging rhoas and such, you'll still take damage even well after you cast it.

However, I think the real question in this thread is how it relates to scold's damage. It depends on whether or not scold's damage kicks in before the cast occurs(I assume that it does, you could test it by suiciding with it and seeing if the spell still went off).
