How do i even math this?

Static strike with a ton of multiplicative adders

Example of a potential tree at 90points:

Assume a 200Damage per attack claw (want to focus on each attack and take AS out of the equation)

I think it would be something like:

68% increased physical from skill level
99% increased physical from tree
127% increased lightning from tree
50% increased lightning damage with weapons
20% increased elemental damage
47% more physical from MP
47% more physical from MOFL
57% more elemental from WED
67% more on AOE from CE


So physical damage = 200*(1+0.68+0.99)*1.47*1.47 = 1,154

60% is converted to lightning: 692, the mods applied:
692*(1+1.27+0.5+0.2)*1.57 = 3,228 damage

OK, i am guessing that the per hit damage is:
461 physical and 3,228 lightning damage.

Now for the explosion:
it would do 30% less damage of the total attack as lightning:
0.7*(461+3,228)*1.67= 4,313



It would appear that a simple 200DPS claw would do about 4,920DPS plus some explosion damage without consideration for auras, curses, or crits.

The idea is that the character also runs herald of thunder with curse on hit with conductivity and elemental weakness.


=O No multistrike? Immmmpossible! You can certainly achieve decent non crit single swing damage. I would run ss-melee-FA-multi-wed and run circles around you in clear speed. Also HoA and Hatred, the only reason i would run HoT is to apply a curse.
Your calculations are completely off.

1. Conversion and Damage Based On occurs before multipliers.
1.1 These new Base Damage sources benefit from the original type's multipliers.
2. The explosion is entirely unrelated to the Melee swing.

Melee swing:
200 Physical Damage
-> 60% Converted to Lightning
80 Phys
120 Lightning (from Physical)

80 Phys benefits from Inc Phys, More Phys.
80 * (1 + (68/100) + (99/100)) * 1.47 * 1.47 = 461.57, rounds down to 461 Physical Damage.

120 Lightning (from Phys) benefits from Inc Phys/Light/Ele, More Phys, More WED.
120 * (1 + (68/100) + (99/100) + (127/100) + (50/100) + (20/100)) * 1.47 * 1.47 * 1.57 = 1889.01, rounds to 1889 Lightning Damage.


The AoE is exactly the same, except both values are also multiplied by 30% Less Damage and 67% More AoE Damage (before rounding):
461.57 * 0.7 * 1.67 = 539.57, rounds to 539 Physical Damage
1889.01 * 0.7 * 1.67 = 2208.25, rounds to 2208 Lightning Damage
