2.2gb ram
|
Big image, pc resolution...
Spoiler
![]() The game on my pc starts using around 850MB of my ram, that isnt any problem, but when i keep playing(sometimes for long time, others rly fast) the game starts use 2.2GB+ of my ram... The problem is after he pass 2GB ram he starts to lag badly, sometimes my char pass trough some objects like doors or walls, dont give me any game crash but LAG SOO MUCH that i cant play.... To make stop the problem and back to use only 1 / 1.5GB of ram again, i need to close the game and open the game again, somethimes this take like hours to happen, sometimes happen in like 10-15 mins online. for reference i will put my pc configuration here: Core 2 Quad Q6600 4GB RAM Markston DDR2 800 Geforce 9600GT 512MB Win7 x64 Professional |

After dl your screenshot i was able to see that you are out of free memory, which means that the system is swapping parts of your memory on your harddisk, which is definately a performance hit.
(see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paging)
Spoiler
....The backing store for a virtual memory operating system is typically many orders of magnitude slower than RAM. Additionally, using mechanical storage devices introduces delay, several milliseconds for a harddisk. Therefore it is desirable to reduce or eliminate swapping, where practical. Some operating systems offer settings to influence the kernel's decisions....
I did some testing and ....yes, POE does take roughly 2 gigs after some instance-jumping - especcially larger levels like barrack in act III seem to require more memory. Also you are running an java-application, which happily takes nearly 500mb main memory. Maybe you could end this process? Freeing 500mb might really help here. Or get some more ram(more ram never hurts ;-)) - 16 gigs go for 80€uro here. Also, I really hope that you are running the latest version from the java runtime, since java is atm a full blown security nightmare. (get newest java runtime here: http://www.java.com/download/index.jsp) If you have been running an old version of java runtime, run a full antimalware/antivirus-scan..... Well after playing for sometime i close those things(the java opened is a JDownloader program), but even with java closed(1GB free+-) the game after reachs 2.2GB of my ram till LAG badly, i say that cuz, even with some extra free memory i still get same lag after 2.2GB's in use, even with more then 50mb till being free.
The problem is the lag, it made me pass trough walls, and one time i passed out of the map and get buged on the same place, i needed to logout n login again to go back to city. Last edited by renatokun89#4543 on Feb 9, 2013, 11:51:56 AM

I wonder if the games executable has the LAA flag applied (Large Address Aware), if not then that would definitely cause problems when the game tries to exceed 2GB. LAA lets the software use up to 4GB of RAM.
Would be sweet if a developer could confirm whether it does or doesn't. " Seems that the flag is set in the header. See: http://picpaste.com/poeclient_laa-V5T6jrJ0.PNG Last edited by StefanK#0071 on Feb 9, 2013, 12:48:11 PM

" Maybe you might go shopping for some more memory :-) Another idea: Check if the files from poe are fragmented.(if yes, defragment them) And try to free 3 gb of ram before starting poe. The additional free mem will act as a file-access-cache and speed up the background loading. |
