Jealosy is the reason many peple use rmt from the start. And then there are those who just leaves the game to never come back.

Not implying jake is involved with rmt of any sorts, but i know many people in this community are.

Also theres already 20+ copies out there atm..... I hope the new owner didnt buy the wand with the sole intent of making their money back in mirror fees.

The 'solution' to this 'problem' is to streamline the game so much that every scrub can achieve 100% perfect items in a short amount of time. Many games work like this. Should PoE be the same? I doubt it.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I remember a couple of months ago a guy in sarn got to talking to me after a trade with him!
I was talking about how hard it is to get started in POE currency wise.... he requests a trade...
I open the trade and he fills his entire trade window with stacks of Exalt! (Show off)
Of course i was impressed since i havent been playing but a few months myself and he proceeds to tell me that all of that is currently going into a staff he is crafting and that by the time he is finished with the crafting process it will be worth around 3000 Exalts!
Not sure if he ment he would have 3KEX in the weapon or thats what it would sell for but he said that would be what it is worth as in selling it! I would love to see what a 3KEX item even looks like!
Personally im not sure theres any one item in this game that would ever be worth 3KEX but seeing items like this go for what people pay for them kinda gives me the impression that the sky is the limit if the item has the right rolls! Still seems like ALOT of currency to invest in just one item none the less!
Guess ill always be a small time kinda dude! oh well... im still having fun so i guess thats all that really matters! To each their own! \m/
There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear.

When a single virtual item sells for what can be converted to over $2250, it should be a sign that something is seriously wrong with the currency/item system and the game's effort/reward balance (as well as with people who choose to spend money that way and make the market what it is).

I couldn't even justify using an item worth that much. You could buy over 300 quality games during a steam sale. How can GGG possibly combat RMT when item values are so high? (RMT sites probably earn more profit than GGG!)

This is why OFFLINE MODE/open bnet was good for D2 - accessibility to gear with offline mods/cheats/save file backups & transfers helped reduce demand in closed bnet and brought the value of goods down to sane levels.
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

Yup.

And there's a wide range of ways that binding and limitations can be attached to items, their uses and their products, without being the extreme 'nothing ever can be traded' that people hissy fit about if the word binding is ever used.

GGG's blanket policy on binding hurt them here, I'm not sure if it was stubbornness, ignorance, blindness, pride or just plain stupidity.

What makes it more strange is that they did actually 'go there' with imprints, just not with anything that mattered.

On a slightly related note; With GGG's vision on removing gold, the inconvenience it was supposed to give to 'unsavoury parties', their apparent want for people to use orbs and not hoard and the unique-index that non-stackable items can have.... it will always boggle my mind why they made the uber rare orbs take up 1 square and stack to 10 rather than take up 4-8 squares and not stack.

Maybe.

I think it's more telling by the sheer number of people (such as yourself and over 9000 people on reddit) who automatically converted to $, rather than the actual figure itself. A real life cost comparison would never enter my head, personally.

One guy on reddit actually said the buyer would have been better getting a custom unique made.
I was like, wtf, there is no correlation?
Casually casual.
