Visibility of items on ground

Hey. I want to ask You about option "show items names". After year of playing PoE, I still can't get used to it. How it works? After turning on this option, We can see all staff on the ground. System send their names to front of our displays. Am I the only person that think system should send one step to back, because is better to see enemy than allow to poke us for someone under tons of names? Yea, I know that "z" toggle it off but I just feel that "show items names" should work little different.

In my opinion we need to see characters first and then items. That would make Us and enemies walking above those names. What do You think about this?

I understand what you mean, however, to me it would look funny/awkward as monster are stepping over names. Not to mention, it would kinda be the same way if someone is looking for items and monsters are getting in the way. I'm assuming when the monster dies the remains automatically go behind the item names, unsure if it'll cause problems or not. The toggle of "z" is fine for me in the end.
I feel that the mouse wheel is considerably underutilized in PoE and that it could be used to control the visibility of items on the ground quite effectively. You could scroll through a continuum of states showing nothing at one extreme and showing everything at the other. It would be even more cool if these intermediate states were selectable by the user.
Items off and the press alt to pick up (which shows the items) works fine for me.
Currencies, rares, uniques and 6s all show briefly before getting hidden and maps are always visible.

Visibility of items isn't perfect and should be upgrade. Not sure, where is the problem. Maybe it's style and size of names or maybe it's tons of items lying on map. Sometimes you will experience that staff names occupy all display and when you click on one of them your character will start moving to far place without grabbing your item.

This has been bugging me since forever.

Can't have item display disabled simply because so much useful drops are never shown (rainbow items, white craftable/chancables) and at times it's ridiculous... it's the same even for strongboxes! I always have to hide items before I open a strongbox or I won't be able to attack half the spawned monsters.

Something really needs to change with items display on the ground and for me, quickest solution would be to display monsters ON TOP of items, not vice versa.

Pro tip : ( bit not from a pro just from me )

Move the hide/show key to space bar , this makes togoling it much eayser alowing you to play 90 % of the time with no loot showing , snaping it on and off checking for srops ( after you get use to micro managing it you will notice the loots you want ASAP and will only need a quick glimps )

Also once you are high level and only need to pick up the odd item use the option "key pick up " so that your character never wanders off to pick up loot when the stuff is hidden ( most usefull on hardcore mode but any high level character can make use of this pretty easy )

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.
When you're doing 120% IIQ map and the screen is full of items, it kinda gets buggy. I click on an item and my character walks some difference place(quite far) to get it. Current system is not something I like that much.
