One way PvP can excel POE

There needs to be a PvP only mode for lv 28 characters where you start with all white gear(you can pick whatever weapon and armor types you want) and have to earn your sockets, links, stats etc through competing in this PvP only mode against other people.

It would be its own realm where PvE characters can not compete or trade anything to. All gear is purely crafted by choosing the mods you want to unlock with the points you earn from PvP.

It would be a similar system to Guild Wars 1 which was highly successful.

This system would make PvP accessible and competitive for everyone instead of the handful of no lifers that can afford the appropriate gear in the current system.

Even once people unlock the ultimate gear it will still be more accessible than it is now because the population of PvP will become large enough to allow the MMR system to match new players against new players. Currently new players are instantly scared out of PvP due to the tiny group of wealthy players who dominate the field.

Thoughts?
I think I pitched this a while back as well, using reputation points earned in PvP to be able to gear up a PvP-only character, and being bracketed with others who have spent similar amounts of points as you.

I'll see if I can find the post.

Yeah, I really think a a PvP league system would work better - you don't gear up with ingame currency, you have to buy gear with reputation earned from battles, can only battle people for reputation who have spent the same amount of points as you (obviously not exactly, I'm talking like banding or something).

Then you could go crazy nuts by having purchasable legacy items when you get to godly reputation tiers, just have the level requirements removed.

Can you imagine two level 28s, decked out in legacy gear, smashing the shit out of each other, knowing that they had to skill their way up to that level? I would probably watch that on Twitch.

This should be quite an easy one to theory-craft:

- Have a separate league for PvP
- You create a character with basic equipment available to all players
- Each PvP win earns you reputation (similar to Masters rep)
- You use reputation to purchase equipment and skill points
- You can only competitively PvP others in the same bracket as you (brackets based on amount of reputation spent)
- Can challenge anyone you want (but will not recieve reputation)

It just becomes similar to ladders/matchmaking stuff that already exists in other PvP games.

In order to make PvP work here, they would have to.... nah... it's never going to work here.

The fundamental flaw in the game (or feature if you want) is that great gear with a poor players will still beat good gear and a good player. The gear makes too much of a difference.

Glad I am not alone in this desire
pvp is fun in a arpg ?

They have spend DEV time on this instead of developping more content faster. I disagree.

Give us more map diversity, more storyline, new beast, new gem, fix melee and armour defence. Forget PVP
Have fun! And go buy my stuff...

Yeah, i dont get it either. There are PVE games which are arpgs and there are hybrids like mmos and there are PVP games that are i dunno what, an example for pure PVP would be Smite. I want to kill mobs, POE, D3, D2. I want PVP, Smite, hands down the proper choices to make are to play the appropriate game instead of shuffling all types into one.

I would like to see this short summary of POE's pvp getting a sticky1 ;o)

I agree it will never be an Esport, but it can still be addictive and fun.
Another way PvP can excel in PoE is give it a chance to drop Acuity, Shav's, Eternal and Mirrors. Make a non-abuse-ble system and instead spamming in global asking people to pvp you would be waiting in PvP queues 24/7
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.
