Tornado Shot - Elemental vs Physical
For those who have tried both, which do you find better?
1) Elemental version with Windripper 2) Physical version with Harbinger I'm an MF character, so I'm not expecting massive damage. But I am finding my current damage a little weak, especially compared to my old physical Split / Puncture Ranger. |

Blood magic removes one damage support, ie. 35% less damage on average. Maybe you should consider Berek's grip. If you can get one, it would resolve your leech issues, and you'll be able to remove BM if you have sufficient unreserved mana.
You have no WED on jewelry and belt (which is to be expected with a MF build). And you also have no crit multi on gear. Aura scaling is very important for ele build. Alpha Howl may be better than Rat's Nest. Without your tree, we can't help much. Maybe you're not high level enough for your damage to rise substentially. right now physical is always better. you can convert all your damage to elemental and you'll end up with substantially more damage than any pure elemental bow including windripper. or, of course, you can just remain physical.
considering you are an MF build as you say, i'd stick with windripper |

I'm pretty sure that ele windripper can scale a lot higher in terms of dps. For the price you pay in gearing a windripper char, the results are unbeatable by phys bows, at least for clear speed.
For try, for see, and for know.

hey,
i have tried both and i think phys bow are much better. With wind ripper, it is hard to use tons of dps auras and defensive auras. Plus, you will have an hard time dealing with elemental reflects. If you use a phys bow, most of your dps is provided by your bow and %phys nodes. Phys reflect can be mitigated with IR and an evasion potions. And you need only 1 aura and 1 herald which allow you to throw in a purity of elements. In other words, it is much easier to gear and also safer. i got around 120/300 with 15k dps. " not even close. physical bows converted to elemental damage do SOOO much more damage because a lot of bonus elemental dmg is converted straight from physical dmg (hatred, added fire, phys to lightning). using burning arrow ice shot or lightning strike and boom there ya go, 90-100% elemental dmg. even using tornado shot you'll do soo much more dmg as physical but converting to elemental than using windripper. i have both, i tried both, windripper is pretty limited. you can basically only use wrath/anger and maybe a herald or two depending on your gear/passive tree. outside of that you have a few elemental dmg with weapons nodes and elemental dmg from shadow start, which you can still get as physical bow converting dmg. for physical its so easy to get bonus damage. and when converting 100% dmg to elemental you'll still gain the most dps from physical dmg nodes. like...a LOT more |

I think windripper was doing better last patch when the crit damage gem was so much more powerful, i see a lot of people wondering how high their dmg will go in mathils ripper forum. I found my shadow ripper a bit lacklustre, have been mucking around with ice shot and can get it up to 48000 with a phys/crit build (using wed, now use add fire:42000) but reflect and mana become quite big issues without acuity. That being said its a lot more fun doing magic find with a bow for me then my mf righteous fire guy.

Well, you guys would know best. Haven't played a bow char past cruel here :P
The thing about windripper is that huge attack speed. When you can oneshot everything, then attack speed is what matters most in terms of clear speed. I could be wrong though, haha. You have played both, so I'll be trusting your judgement. For try, for see, and for know.

Depends on build.
You are life based so phys is better, if you are low-life then I would much prefer ripper. IGN: Chundaziri
