2handers deserve an 'offhand' item like bows have with quivers.

I like this idea. Something that adds to the weapon handle, or the damage end. Spikes, more blades, jagged blade edges, bigger maul end, puncturing add on for hammer etc.

Boosting weapon speed, adding some flat damage, adding accuracy, chance to ignore energy shield, maybe even some movement speed to help get the character to melee range faster.

I think I'd rather have even better affixes for 2h weapons, maybe not just the flat damage ones.

Honestly, I don't care too much what the base type's theme actually is. All the listed ideas are good concepts (in particular I was also considering the idea of 'grips' myself, cuz I'm rather fond of good ol' Vagrant Story). What's important is simply getting 2handers something to fill that offhand item slot.

Uh... no. 1handers would still have shields to use, which give 6 affixes or a unique as well as providing both high defense ratings AND the extremely high effective-health-amp that is blocking. Or offhand weapons which provide blocking chance and better attack speed, again as well as 6 affixes or a unique. This would in no way phase out 1handers, it'd just allow 2handers to get the same opportunity for offhand uniques/affixes... they'd still have the other pros and cons compared to sword-and-board and dual-wielding.

how about those "off hands" grant reduced attackspeed but increased aoe and 15%more multi or something like that.

if you just give them "here's more damage more attackspeed more life have fun" then you dont need to have them at all. just buff 2H bases.

2H are thematicly slower than 1H or dualwielders but do alot more damage on hit and have increased range (+x weapon range whould be another cool thing *hint hint*)

also make a cool es one like this for 2H

The notion that a separate slot could be added for trophy items (which forgive me if I'm misinterpreting the insinuation) is surely a solid one, but would quickly misinterpret the idea of specific build structures.

For example, an energy shield based build gains massive amounts of playability from a strong ES based shield, as does a bow user gain a massive amount of the same playability as per directionality gained from a quiver. The same could be said for defensive capabilities gained via specific one-handed builds.

A two-handed user, however, is bereft of benefits (aside of massive average weapon damage). Sure, they can have two six-linked items but lack the overall tenacity of a strictly buff oriented item.

Which, in my mind, is akin to a quiver, shield, or benefits gained through dual-wielding.

I suggested this over a year and a half ago.

Then when that did not fly, i suggested a double implicit roll on 2-handed weapon bases, and a multiplication by two of the original modifier.

For instance why does a 2-hand blade have the same 18%accuracy a 1-h has? It should have 36% as a base stat.

But allas, i can't be arsed to post suggestions like this anymore, tried for two years without result, maybe ill try again in the near future but the end result might be the same.

I'd like to point out...Do bows have 6 slots? Yes.
Do quivers?

I personally was a fan of the idea of Pauldrons, giving either offensive or defensive stats depending on flavour (See belts. Quivers are typically mostly offensive in one way or another)
They would have to be locked to at least melee and possibly only 2 handed to prevent the same exploits that quivers were used with, true - but while the theme of 2 handers is to hit everything as hard as you can - we all know how well glass cannons fare in PoE endgame, so some form of mitigation would be VERY welcome. I've been eyeing up a particularly juicy node in the duelist tree perimeter that I would like to very much see expounded on...Soul of Steel.

More of these for 2 handers? Maybe behind unwavering stance? Maybe on a unique? "Kaoms Epaulettes"? The possibilities are endless.
