Le Heup of all, or is it?

Hey guys, I fail to understand how Le Heup works. For those that don't know, the ring provides up to "(10 to 20)% increased Damage". However that damage is not added to the tooltip dps, for whatever reason.
Anyway, isn't that ring horribly overpowered? The way I understand it would add 3000 (with a 20% ring) dps for my 15000dps tornado shot ranger, which to me seems like a LOT. Why isn't everyone using that horribly overpowered ring, or am I missing something?
Damage is additive, not multiplicative.
That's what you are missing.

Yeah, it's a quirk of wording with POE.

Imagine I have 100 life, and two passive skills that give "15% increased Maximum Life". These stack additively, so the result is

100 + (100 * .15) + (100 * .15), or

100 * (1 + .15 + .15) = 130 life

Now I equip an item that gives +40 life, and choose a passive skill that grants +20 life. The integer bonuses are applied first, so I end up with

(100 + 40 + 20) * (1 + .15 + .15) = 160 * 1.3 = 208 life

Now I choose two passive skills that gives "10% more Maximum Life". These are multiplicative, so they are applied separately.

(100 + 40 + 20) * (1 + .15 + .15) * 1.10 * 1.10 = 251.68 life

Note that if they were additive, the result would be

(100 + 40 + 20) * (1 + .15 + .15 + .1 + .1) = 240 life

This. It's actually a fairly underpowered ring, if anything. There's almost always a better option than Le Heup.
The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard
The 82nd character to hit Delve 1000 in Standard
What is it additive with tho? I don't see any pure +% of damage nodes. Or is the formula something like: amount of damage*(physical damage+bow damage+elemental damage+le heups damage increase.....) instead?
Just think of "15% increased damage" being identical to "15% increased physical damage" combined with "15% elemental damage" (and "15% increased chaos damage" as well I guess, not sure about DoT though), the overall effect is the same.

So it's essentially additive with both separately.
For try for see and for know.

The %increased damage on "Le Heup" works like any other %increased damage on the tree (%increased phys damage, %projectile damage, %spell damage, etc.), it's just that it works for all sources of damage. It would work the way you think if the text was "% more damage" on the ring, which would be waaaaay too OP.

It was awesome back in the day when there was no chaos damage on the tree and viper strike wasn't based on physical damage.
When I kill a man he stays dead.
I can confirm that the damage is additive and to base physical and elemental.

the ring itself I think is one of the oldest ones as Im pretty sure I was like the 25th Diamond supporter back in Jan 2012.

Needless to say, im sure that, if it is horribly out of date, as such GGG would be willing to "tweak" it, but im sure they are busy enough for the moment.

Hmmm maybe if I asked them to pretty please put say life/mana on there instead of rarity they might agree, not that I know but this may bring it a few tiers higher in the endgame perspective.

I only play self found and have only got to lvl 87 (all time highest lvl) so thanks for this post and feedback op and peeps, was thought prevoking :)
