Will i get banned for running AHK for non-PoE related things?
I'm a hardware engineer and part of my job is to write AutoHotKey scripts to simplify silly software processes for my team.
Because I'm so familiar with AHK, I use it to simplify tasks on my computer. Currently, I have 15 different AHK scripts that auto-run when I login to or turn on my computer. One of these, for example, opens iTunes, goes to a playlist I have of about 50 completely different types of songs, chooses a random number between one and 50, selects the song that corresponds to the number, and then hits the genius button to start a genius playlist based on that song. So my question is that even though I don't use AHK to do anything in PoE but I do use many AHK scripts that perform numerous functions in one press of a button, will I get banned from PoE? Thanks. |

You shouldn't, and if they banned you simply for having AHK, I'd probably quit this game myself

No. And you shouldnt buy into that hype about GGG scanning everything. They dont care what you do with AHK outside of POE.
Keep running it, who cares. |

" It isn't "hype" as you put it. The PoE installer definitely downloaded a process monitor in the last patch. I'm not sure if it is actively sending data back to GGG but it is definitely asking the Windows API for a list of my active processes. I don't have anything to hide, but hat doesn't mean my rights aren't being violated. That being said, I have no desire to argue about that...I'll let other forum warriors handle it. I juSt don't want to get banned from my favorite game for no reason. |

If they ban people, meaning perma ban and not suspension. It will ONLY be for using programs that tamper with the games memory (map hacks, bots, etc...)

It shouldn't. If it does, I would quit playing.

Kinda mirrors my concerns. I use a different software from AHK to run my macros. I worry they may be trying to reinvent a Punkbuster type system, which had a lot of false positive growing pains. I don't want to be banned because they haven't got their software properly sorted.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

Would a GGG support team member mind commenting on this? I know I'm not the only person this would affect.
JJust to reiterate, I don't want to get banned for using automatic or multi function AHK scripts that have nothing to do with PoE. I know these kinds of scripts are against their TOS so now that they know I run them, I don't want them to ban me for it. For anyone unclear, I'm concerned because there is no way to decipher what my AHK scripts are doing if they are looking at my process list. I'm nervous about this line of pseudo code: foreach badProcess (@badProcessList) { if (find badProcess in @acticeProcesses {BAN THEMMMMMM!!!!!!111} } |

They wont ban people for using AHK. Do they think Im seriously going to type /oos myself? I love PoE, but in it's current state no AHK would mean no PoE :(

I don't think so, even i am able to assign macros to the extra buttons of my mouse, no matter if alt-f4 or /oos.
They could also limit this game only to 90'ish one button mices form apple if they wanted to but they didn't so i think macroing "normal and regular" commands is okay. - Best Signature Ever - Last edited by BestUsernameEver#6698 on Jan 14, 2015, 12:38:31 PM
