I dont get the purpose of FPS games. You just shoot some people in the face. Thats it?

I think the best way to give an action rpg such as PoE a long life is to play hardcore. It is what made D2 last 10+ years for me(ofc didn't play nonstop, long breaks inbetween but always came back).
In softcore if you play alot you will eventually reach a point where your gear is perfect. Ofc this can happen in hardcore too but it's not as likely. The market for trading items is smaller and farming you probably might lose a character here and there, thus losing gear. It is more fun to always have that gear motivation. When you reach your goal you will probably quit. This is what happened for example for lots of people grinding rank levels in the old WoW PvP system. You had to grind your ass of for a couple of months to reach rank 14. When you did you would have no goal anymore. Most people quit shortly after reaching this rank. There was no motivation anymore. But this is from the perspective of playing a single league only. The great thing with PoE is all the leagues that will come. This will give SC also great longevity. If it is done right, probably indefinitely. Last edited by Eivon#4461 on Feb 8, 2013, 8:14:34 PM

The purpose of this game is the same as any other game.... to pass the time while you wait to die

why are you bumping this thread?
The purpose of a game - to have fun. If you are not having fun. Do something else. "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."
